WWE Survivor Series 2020 Review

 Survivor Series 2020 took place on Sunday November 22nd at the WWE Thunderdome. There are a lot of interesting matches on the card so, let's take a look.

The match on the Kick Off Show was a Battle Royal. The wrestlers involved were: Angel Garza, Apollo Crews, Chad Gable, Cedric Alexander, Dolph Ziggler, Dominik Mysterio, Elias, Humberto Carrillo, Jeff Hardy, John Morrison, Kalisto, The Miz, Murphy, Rey Mysterio, Ricochet, Robert Roode, Shelton Benjamin and Shinsuke Nakamura. The final four end up being: Jeff Hardy, Dominik Mysterio, Chad Gable and The Miz. Gable eliminates Hardy but he is then eliminated by Dominik. Miz then slides in and eliminates Dominik to get the win. I thought this was a fun match to watch.

Winner: The Miz (N/A)

The first match on the show was the Men's Survivor Series Elimination Match with Team RAW (AJ Styles, Keith Lee, Sheamus, Braun Strowman and Riddle) taking on Team Smackdown (Kevin Owens, Jey Uso, King Corbin, Seth Rollins and Otis). Rollins is the first to be eliminated after deciding to martyr himself and get hit by a Brogue Kick by Sheamus. Styles eliminates Owens thanks to a Phenomenal Forearm and Riddle eliminates Corbin with a corkscrew splash. Strowman eliminates Otis thanks to a Running Powerslam. Jey Uso tries to splash Styles but Keith Lee catches him and hits a Spirit Bomb to get a clean sweep and the win. This was quite a decent match between the two teams although I was surprised to see a clean sweep.

Winners: AJ Styles, Keith Lee, Sheamus, Braun Strowman and Riddle (1 for 1)

The next match was between the RAW Tag Team Champions The New Day and the Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Street Profits. The New Day spend most of the match focusing on Montez Ford before he manages to get the hot tag to Angelo Dawkins. In the end, Dawkins put Xavier Woods on his shoulders and Ford hits him with a top rope blockbuster to get the win. I thought that match was a bit slow to begin with but it developed into an entertaining contest.

Winners: The Street Profits (1 for 2)

We now get the Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn taking on the United States Champion Bobby Lashley. Sami tries to provoke Lashley's buddies, The Hurt Business, into hitting him (therefore, winning by disqualification) but to no avail. In the end, Lashley gets Zayn to submit to the Hurt Lock to get the win. This was quite a good match.

Winner: Bobby Lashley (1 for 3)

Next is a battle between the RAW Women's Champion Asuka and the Smackdown Women's Champion Sasha Banks. During the match, both women try to get the other to submit. In the end, Sasha manages to roll up Asuka to get the win. I was quite surprised at the ending as Asuka had never lost to Sasha before this match. Having said that, I thought it was a really good match.

Winner: Sasha Banks (1 for 4)

The next match is theWomen's Survivor Series Elimination Match as Team RAW (Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, Lana, Lacey Evans and Peyton Royce) take on Team Smackdown (Bayley, Bianca Belair, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan and Natalya). The first elimination occurs when Royce takes out Bayley with a Deja Vu. However, she is eliminated a few minutes later by Natalya thanks to a Sharpshooter. Lacey Evans eliminates Natalya after she hits The Woman's Right and Baszler eliminates Riott. Morgan eliminates Evans after hitting a Crucifix Bomb but she gets eliminated after being flattened by a Samoa Drop from Jax. Baszler decides to be an idiot when she gets disqualified for not releasing the Krirfuda Clutch on Belair when she got to the ropes. Jax then grabs Belair and they fight outside the ring. Unfortunately, they both get counted out leaving Lana, who had been treated like shit by her teammates during (and even long before) as the sole survivor. So, Lana effectivley wins by being disrespected...? Erm, ok. As for the match, aside from a few obvious mistakes, I enjoyed it and I liked Lana getting some comeuppance on her teammates, who had no respect for her.

Winner: Lana (1 for 5)

The final match is Universal Champion Roman Reigns taking on WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. Reigns is dominant for most of the match before McIntyre gets back into it. The match goes back and forth and McIntyre goes for the Claymore Kick but Reigns counters with a Superman punch. Reigns goes on to send McIntyre through the announce table with a Samoa Drop followed by a Spear through part of the barrier. McIntyre eventually hits a Claymore Kick but it sends Reigns into the referee, who goes out of the ring. Jey Uso, who Reigns had told to fuck off home earlier in the night, comes in and helps Reigns with a superkick to McIntyre. Reigns then applies a Gillotine Choke and a second referee comes in to call for the bell when McIntyre passes out. This was a really good main event and, whilst I picked McIntyre to win, Reigns winning was the best call to make.

Winner: Roman Reigns (1 for 6)

The event ends with the retirement ceremony of The Undertaker, who debuted 30 years ago at Survivor Series 1990. The Undertaker is an icon of the industry, who is highly respected. My first match that I saw of his was when he took on Jake "The Snake" Roberts at Wrestlemania VIII. Whilst I'm not been a big fan of him, I've always enjoyed his work, especially some of his Wrestlemania matches. He will be greatly missed and I hope he continues to find some way to stay involved in WWE. As for the ceremony itself, it was good although Kane being in his custome in the middle of other wrestlers wearing normal clothes was a bit weird. 

I actually really enjoyed Survivor Series. The last few events I've enjoyed but I felt like they were nowhere near as good as the NXT TakeOvers. This is the first time in a while that I felt that WWE had put on a really good event. I'm probably wrong but I hope the next one is just as good.

WWE Survivor Series 2020 Preview

 

WWE Survivor Series will be taking place this evening at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. Not only will we have our usual RAW vs Smackdown matchups but WWE will be celebrating 30 years of the Undertaker. So, let's take a look at the card.

Bobby Lashley vs Sami Zayn

This should be a good contest and I'm going for Zayn to win.

This is one that I'm quite looking forward to seeing. I'm going for The New Day to win.

The WWE Champion takes on the Universal Champion in what I feel will be a brutal encounter. I may be biased but I'm going for McIntyre to win.

WWE Survivor Series 2019 Review

WWE Survivor Series took place on Sunday 24th November at the AllState Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. This year, we get NXT added to which brand is the best, if you care about that sort of thing. Anyway, let's take a look.

The first match is a Tag Team Battle Royal. Taking part were The O.C., The Revival, The Forgotten Sons, Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode, The Street Profits, Zack Ryder and Kurt Hawkins, Breezango, Lucha House Party, Imperium and Heavy Machinery. Steve Cutler from The Forgotten Sons is the first to be eliminated quickly followed by Lince Dorado from The Lucha House Party. The final 3 teams end up being The O.C., Ziggler and Roode, and The Street Profits. Ziggler eliminates Luke Gallows. Montez Ford hits a beautiful frog splash on Ziggler but Roode grabs him and throws him over the top rope to give his team the win. The match wasn't too bad.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode (N/A)

The next match is for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship as Lio Rush faces the challenge of Kalisto and Akira Tozowa.  Highlights of the match include: Rush hitting a double elbow on his opponents; Tozowa hitting a sucker punch on Rush; and Kalisto stopping a German suplex pin and almost pinning Rush. In the end, Kalisto hits Tozowa with the Salida del Sol; but Rush hits him with The Final Hour to get the win. This was a fun, fast paced match to watch.
Winner: Lio Rush (1 for 1)

The Kick Off Show main(?) event is The New Day, The Viking Raiders and The Undisputed Era facing each other in a triple threat tag team match. Highlights of the match include: Kyle O'Reilly putting Kofi Kingston in a knee bar; and Erik body slamming Ivar onto their opponents on the outside. O'Reilly and Fish take out Kingston leaving them to face Erik and Ivar. In the end, The Viking Raiders hit O'Reilly with the Viking Experience onto Fish to get the win. This was quite a good match.
Winner: The Viking Raiders (1 for 2)

The first match of the show is the Women's Survivor Series Elimination Match with Team Smackdown (Sasha Banks, Nikki Cross, Lacey Evans, Carmella and Dana Brooke) taking on Team RAW (Charlotte Flair, Asuka, Kairi Sane, Sarah Logan and Natalya) and Team NXT (Rhea Ripley, Toni Storm, Io Shirai, Bianca Belair and Candice LeRae). During the match, Io Shirai and Candice LeRae have to withdraw from the match due to injury. Cross is the first to be eliminated as she gets rolled up by Belair. Then Belair eliminates Logan with a 450 splash. Carmella gets eliminated thanks to a Natural Selection from Charlotte, Sasha Banks eliminates Sane with a double knee then Asuka eliminates Carmella. Charlotte and Asuka get into an argument and Asuka retaliates by spraying green mist into Charlotte and going: "fuck you guys, I'm off". Evans takes advantage and hits Charlotte with the Women's Right to leave Natalya left for RAW. Natalya rolls up Evans to eliminate and Natalya and Sasha team up to eliminate Storm and Belair. Banks then eliminates Natalya with a punch (wait, what?) leaving her to face Ripley. Banks gets Ripley in the Bank Statement but LeRae and Shirai suddenly recover from their injuries and pull her out of the ring. LeRae distracts the referee while Shirai kills Banks with a springboard dropkick. Ripley then hits the Riptide to get the win.

I thought the match was pretty decent but I found the ending a bit weird. I'm a few weeks behind on NXT but, last I checked Shirai and LeRae were in a feud. So, I found it strange that they teamed up to help NXT get the win, especially since they were opposite sides in the Women's War Games Match the previous night. Anyway, as I said, it was a decent match.
Winners: Rhea Ripley, Io Shirai and Candice LeRae (1 for 3)

Now a match I was quite looking forward to seeing: a triple threat match between the Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura, the United States Champion AJ Styles and the North American Champion Roderick Strong. Highlights of the match include: Styles throwing Strong into Nakamura; Strong monkey flipping Styles into a running knee by Nakamura; and Nakamura kicking Strong off Style's shoulders. In the end, Styles hits the Phenomenal Forearm on Nakamura. However, Strong throws Styles out of the ring and pins Nakamura to get the win. I thought this was a pretty good match to watch.
Winner: Roderick Strong (1 for 4)

The next match is for the NXT Championship as Pete Dunne challenges Adam Cole (Bay Bay!) Both guys are carrying injuries from the night before, which slows down their offense. Dunne goes for a moonsault but Cole gets his knees up then hits the Last Shot but it only gets 2. Later on, Dunne hits the Bitter End but Cole kicks out at 2. After some back and forth, Dunne goes for another Bitter End but Cole manages to reverse it into a Panama Sunrise. He then hits another Last Shot to the back of the head to get the win. I thought this was a really enjoyable match.
Winner: Adam Cole (2 for 5)

Next is for the Universal Championship as Daniel Bryan challenges "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt. Bryan starts at a tremendous pace, hitting 2 running dropkicks before Wyatt responds with a clothesline. Wyatt goes on to press home his advantage. Bryan avoids a Sister Abigail to hit a running knee off the apron and make a comeback. Bryan hits a running knee but it only gets 2. In the end, Wyatt pins him with the Mandible Claw to get the win...? Erm, ok. Anyway, the match was pretty good but last time I checked, the Mandible Claw is not used to pin someone. Also, stop fucking using the red light. I hate it.
Winner: Bray Wyatt (3 for 6)

We now get our 2nd Survivor Series Elimination Match with Team RAW (Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre, Ricochet and Kevin Owens) taking on Team Smackdown (Roman Reigns, Shorty G, King Baron Corbin, Ali and Braun Strowman) and Team NXT (Tomasso Ciampa, Walter, Matt Riddle, Keith Lee and Damien Priest). Walter is the first to be eliminated thanks to a Claymore Kick by McIntyre, which pissed me and the crowd off. Shorty G gets eliminated after a frog splash by Owens, who then gets eliminated thanks to a hanging DDT by Ciampa. Orton eliminates Priest with a RKO but Riddle rolls him up and eliminates him. Orton thanks Riddle by hitting him with a RKO and Corbin takes advantage and pins Riddle to eliminate him. Strowman gets counted out after a Claymore Kick by McIntyre and Ricochet gets eliminated thanks to an End of Days by Corbin. Corbin has an argument with Ali and this gives Rollins the opportunity to eliminate Ali with the Blackout. McIntyre is eliminated thanks to a Spear by Rollins. He then gets into an argument with Rollins, who goes on to hit a Superman punch followed by a Spear. Ciampa then pins Corbin to eliminate him. Rollins and Reigns team up Rollins eliminates Ciampa with another Blackout. Lee then eliminates Rollins with a Jackhammer, leaving him and Reigns. They go on to have some very close falls before Reigns hits a Spear to get the win. The match was generally good. However, I'm pissed off that Walter was the first to be eliminated. He is the United Kingdom Champion and he has been booked as almost undefeatable. So, I wasn't happy with him having getting less than 3 minutes.
Winner: Roman Reigns (4 for 7)

The penultimate match has Brock Lesnar gracing us with his presence and defending his WWE Championship against Rey Mysterio in a no disqualification match. Lesnar throws Mysterio round like a rag doll before Mysterio's son Dominic runs in to try to throw in the towel. When Lesnar refuses, Mysterio low blows him then teams up with his son to take out Lesnar. Despite this, Lesnar recovers and German suplexes Dominic and F-5's Mysterio to get the win. The match was only 7 minutes but I quite enjoyed most of it.
Winner: Brock Lesnar (5 for 8)

The main event is a triple threat between the RAW Women's Champion "The Man" Becky Lynch, Smackdown Women's Champion Bayley and NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler. Highlights include: Baszler stamping on Bayley's elbow; Lynch hitting Bex-ploders to her opponents; and Bayley hitting Belly-to-Bayley on Baszler. After Baszler sends Lynch onto the announce table, she goes on to get Bayley to submit to the Kirifuda Clutch and get the win. Afterwards, Lynch sends Baszler through the German announce table.

I was slightly disappointed in this match. There were some good spots but it was a lot of 1-on-1 action, despite it being a triple threat match. Also, it seemed to go at a very slow pace until the few last minutes.
Winner: Shayna Baszler (5 for 9)

With the exception of the main event and a couple of booking decisions, I generally liked Survivor Series. With NXT winning most of their matches, I thought this could lead somewhere but, with the exception of Seth Rollins' heel turn, it looks like that it hasn't. We'll now see how the rest of the year goes.

WWE Survivor Series 2019 Preview

The 2019 Survivor Series will be taking place this evening at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. Whilst I don't give a fuck too much about brand supremacy, this year has had NXT involved and it has to some interesting matches. So, let's take a look.

WWE Survivor Series 2018 Review

Survivor Series 2018 took place last Sunday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. RAW have won the last two Survivor Series, so will this year be any different? Let's take a look.

The match on the Kick Off Show was a Survivor Series Elimination Match with Team RAW (Bobby Roode and Chad Gable, The Revival, The Ascension, The B Team and Lucha House Party) taking on Team Smackdown(The Usos, The New Day, Sanity, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows and The Colons(?)) The Colons are the first team to be eliminated after The Revival hit Epico with the Shatter Machine. Anderson eliminates The B Team with a roll up and Eric Young is eliminated thanks to a combo Roode Awakening/Moonsault by Roode and Gable. The Ascension are eliminated when Big E splashes Konnor and Anderson and Gallows are eliminated after a senton by Gran Metalik on Anderson. The Usos then eliminate Lucha House Party and Gable and Roode get eliminated with a Up Up Down Down by The New Day on Gable. The Revival hit Shatter Machine on Xavier Woods to leave it with just them and The Usos. In the end, Jimmy Uso hits an Uso Splash on Scott Dawson to get Team Smackdown the win. This was a good match with Chad Gable and The Revival being particularly impressive.

The first match on the show is the Women's Survivor Series Elimination Match with Team RAW (Mickie James, Tamina, Nia Jax, Sasha Banks and Bayley) versus Team Smackdown (Naomi, Carmella, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville and Asuka) Earlier on, Alexa Bliss had replaced Natalya and Ruby Riott with Sasha Banks and Bayley. Naomi is the first one to be eliminated with a superkick by Tamina but she was eliminated immediately by a roll up by Carmella, who celebrated with a dance break. Rose blind tags in as Deville hits a running knee on James and eliminates her to take the credit. Bayley eliminates Carmella with a Belly-to-Bayley and Sasha Banks eliminates Mandy Rose with the Banks Statement. Deville and Bayley both get counted out, leaving Asuka to take on Jax and Banks. Jax decides to be a jerk and push Banks off the turnbuckle, leading her into a Asuka Lock by Asuka. Banks submits and Jax then kills Asuka with multiple legdrops and a Samoan Drop to get the win for Team RAW. This was quite a good match and it ties the event at...wait, it's 1-0 to RAW? So, the one on the Kick Off Show doesn't count? Then, what was the point of the match?
Winner: Nia Jax (2 for 2)

We now get our first Champion vs Champion match as the Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins takes on United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. Both guys get a feel for each other before Nakamura kicks Rollins in the face as he goes for a suicide dive. Nakamura focuses on the neck before Rollins slams Nakamura into the turnbuckle. Rollins hits 3 suicide dives in a row before the match goes back and forth. Nakamura hits a Kinshasa to the back of the head but Rollins kicks out. Nakamura goes for another one but misses and Rollins hits the Curb Stomp to get the win. This was an entertaining match and possibly, one of Nakamura's best matches since being called up to the main roster. I was surprised that Dean Ambrose didn't make an appearance. I suppose brand supremacy is more important than his hatred of Rollins.
Winner: Seth Rollins (2 for 3)

Our second Champion vs Champion match as the RAW Tag Team Champions AOP take on Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Bar. Sheamus and Cesaro get the early advantage as they focus on Razr. AOP recover, wearing down Cesaro. Cesaro eventually tags in Sheamus. Drake Maverick starts to interfere, distracting Sheamus then putting Razr's foot on the rope to stop him being pinned. When The Bar and Big Show go after him, he wets himself...? What? Anyway, AOP use this opportunity(?) to hit Sheamus with The Last Chapter and get the win. I wasn't a fan of this match. It felt like it went on for too long and the ending was fucking stupid.
Winners: AOP (2 for 4)

We now get a break from RAW dominating Smackdown as Mustafa Ali challenges Buddy Murphy for the Cruiserweight Championship. Ali uses his quickness against Murphy before being sent flying off the top rope into the crowd barrier. Ali tries to get back into it but Murphy uses his superior strength to shut him down. Ali comes close with a beautiful hanging DDT then hits a Spanish fly from the German announce table. In the end, Ali goes for a crossbody but gets kneed in the head. Murphy then hits Murphy's Law to get the win. This was a really good match and it was great to see the Cruiserweight Championship on an actual Pay-Per-View.
Winner: Buddy Murphy (3 for 5)

Next is our final Survivor Series Elimination Match as Team RAW (Bobby Lashley, Finn Balor, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman) take on Team Smackdown (Hollywood Miz, Best in the World(?) Shane McMahon, Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio). Samoa Joe is the first to be eliminated with a Claymore Kick by McIntyre. Shane elbows Strowman through the announce table and Balor gets eliminated by Rey Mysterio after a 619 and a Dropping a Dime.   Shane eliminates Ziggler after a Coast to Coast and when he goes for another one, Strowman clotheslines him in mid air. Strowman eliminates Hardy, Mysterio and Miz with powerslams, leaving only Shane left for Smackdown. Strowman then hits him with a brutal powerslam to get the win for RAW. RAW Captain Baron Corbin celebrates by hitting Strowman on the back of the head. Whilst I was pissed off that once again, Shane McMahon was the last member of his team; it was a good match.
Winners: Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman (4 for 6)

The penultimate match was supposed to be RAW Women's Champion Ronda Rousey taking on Smackdown Women's Champion "The Man" Becky Lynch, which was that a lot of people was looking forward to seeing. However, Nia Jax broke her nose and gave her a concussion, meaning that she couldn't compete. Instead, we got Ronda taking on Charlotte Flair. Charlotte sends Ronda flying into the turnbuckle to get the advantage. Ronda tries multiple times to go for the Armbar but Charlotte stops it each time. Both women come close to winning before Charlotte goes for the Figure 8 but Ronda reverses the pressure and they end up on the floor. In the end, Ronda goes to attack Charlotte on the outside but she gets hit with a kendo stick out of thin air, causing a disqualification. Charlotte proceeds to beat the absolute fuck out of Ronda with kendo sticks and a steel chair. When referees start to stop her, she beats the fuck out of them as well, ending with  putting Ronda in a chair vice and stomping on it.

This match was really good and definitely the best one that Ronda has had so far. The ending was surprising, but I was initially ok with it if it led to something. However, Ronda comes out the next night acting as if nothing happened; and, except for a segment on Smackdown, Charlotte is still being a face. So, it felt that it didn't change anything. As for the future, it could lead to some interesting inter-promotional matches between Nia Jax, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey if WWE play it right.
Winner: Ronda Rousey (5 for 7)

The main event was between Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and the new WWE Champion Daniel Bryan. The match starts at a slow pace with Bryan mocking Lesnar. That turns out to be a bad idea as Lesnar proceeds to hit 2 release German suplexes and 3 overhead belly-to-belly suplexes. Lesnar continues to brutalise Bryan, hitting a F-5 but choosing not to end the match. Lesnar goes for another F-5 but he throws Bryan into the referee and Bryan hits a low blow and a running knee for 2. Bryan starts his comeback, kicking and stomping on Lesnar. The match goes back and forth and Bryan comes close after hitting another running knee. In the end, Lesnar manages to prevail by getting out of a triangle choke and hitting the F-5.

This match was weird to watch at first. It looked like it was going to be a glorified squash match, which was insane to see considering it had two World Champions involved. However, it developed into and entertaining, back and forth match. An unusual but enjoyable match.
Winner: Brock Lesnar (6 for 8)

Except for a few moments, Survivor Series was pretty good. It was weird that RAW swept the board, except for the Kick Off Show, which doesn't count for some reason. Despite that, there were some good matches. If WWE can just stop doing stupid things when booking some of their matches, then maybe we can get some more good events.

WWE Survivor Series 2018 Preview

The 32nd Survivor Series took place this evening at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The card looks interesting, especially after the previous Smackdown. So, let's take a look.

Team RAW (Bobby Roode and Chad Gable, The Revival, The B-Team, Lucha House Party and The Ascension) vs Team Smackdown (The Usos, The New Day, Sanity, Luke Anderson and Luke Gallows, and The Colons(?))
Survivor Series Elimination Match
The RAW Tag Team Division is a joke at the minute even though they have The Revival. I'm going for Smackdown to win.

Cruiserweight Championship
This should be a good match and I'm going for Murphy to win.

Seth Rollins vs Shinsuke Nakamura
This is one of the matches that I'm really looking forward to seeing. Rollins is awesome at the minute but I can see Dean Ambrose interfering, giving Nakamura the win.

A tough one to call, especially as we don't know yet who the fifth member of Team Smackdown will be. I'm going for Team RAW to win this one.

Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte Flair
Unfortunately, Becky Lynch's injury meant that she can't face Rousey; so we get Charlotte instead. This could be the match of the night and I think that Rousey will win.

Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan
In a big surprise, Bryan became WWE Champion, turning heel in the process on Tuesday. This has led to an interesting match up between, technically, two heels. I'm going for Brock to win.

Team RAW (Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Braun Strowman, Finn Balor and Bobby Lashley) vs Team Smackdown (Hollywood Miz, Shane McMahon (Fuck's Sake...), Rey Mysterio, Samoa Joe and Jeff Hardy)
I think Team RAW will win this one and hopefully the Best in the World Shane McMahon will be the first one to be eliminated.
Predicted Winners: Team RAW

WWE Survivor Series 2017 Review

WWE Survivor Series 2017 took place on Sunday 17th November at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas? After this, we will get the answer to who is the better brand: RAW or Smackdown. I mean, if you care about that kind of thing. Anyway, let's take a look at the show.

There were 3 matches on the Kick Off Show and the first was Elias taking on Matt Hardy. Elias gets the advantage after bouncing Hardy's neck off the top rope and focuses on his left shoulder. Hardy hits the side effect to start his comeback. However, he is limited due to the shoulder. In the end, Elias sends Hardy into the ring post and follows up with the Drift Away to get the win. The match was ok for me.
Winner: Elias (N/A)

Next was Kailsto challenging Enzo Amore for the Cruiserweight Championship. Kalisto almost gets the win early on with a sunset bomb. Enzo gets the advantage and goes on to hit the JawdonZo to get the win. The match wasn't that great to be honest. Hopefully, we get a new challenger for Enzo.
Winner: Enzo Amore (1 for 1)

The last match on the Kick Off Show was Breezango taking on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Breeze gets isolated by Owens and Zayn and they wear him down. Breeze stops a senton by Owens, giving him the chance to tag in Fandango. However, Fandango misses the Last Dance due to Owens pulling Zayn out of the way. Owens then gets tagged in and hits Fandango with the pop up powerbomb to get his team the win. I quite enjoyed this match and I'm liking the team of Owens and Zayn.
Winners: Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn  (N/A)

The first match of the event is The New Day taking on The Shield. After some close near falls, The New Day hit a double Midnight Hour on Ambrose and Rollins but Reigns breaks up the pin. In the end, Kofi gets hit with a spear from Reigns followed by a triple powerbomb from the too rope and The Shield get the win. This was a really enjoyable match and a great way to start the show.
Winners: The Shield (2 for 2)

The next match is our 1st Survivor Series Elimination Match. The team of Becky Lynch, Carmella, Natalya, Tamina and Naomi from Smackdown taking on the team of Alicia Foxx, Asuka, Bayley, Nia Jax and Sasha Banks from RAW. Becky is the first to be eliminated when she gets rolled up by Bayley. This is followed by Tamina eliminating Bayley with a splash. Nia Jax gets counted out and Naomi pins Alicia. Sasha gets Naomi to submit to the Banks Statement and Asuka eliminates Carmella after kicking her head off but Sasha submits to the Sharpshooter by Natalya. Asuka goes on to get Tamina to submit to an armbar then Natalya to submit to the Asuka Lock, becoming the sole survivor. This match was pretty decent, although the timing of the eliminations did bug me slightly.
Winner: Asuka  (2 for 3)

We now get our first Champion vs Champion match as the United States Champion Baron Corbin takes on the Intercontinental Champion Hollywood Miz. Corbin comes close after hitting a Deep Six and goes on to get the win after avoiding a dropkick to hit the End of Days. Although nothing really stood out, I still found the match to be quite entertaining.
Winner: Baron Corbin (2 for 4)

Now a match that I was looking forward to watching: The RAW Tag Team Champions Cesaro and Sheamus taking on the Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Usos. The match goes back and forth before Cesaro and Sheamus get to wear down Jimmy. Jimmy gets a cockscrew on Sheamus, giving him the chance to tag in Jey Uso. Cesaro does the giant swing into the Sharpshooter on Jey but he gets to the ropes. Cesaro and Sheamus come close to winning a couple of times but in the end, The Usos superkick Sheamus to death followed by a Uso Splash by Jey to get the win. This was a good match with some really cool spots.
Winners: The Usos (3 for 5)

Our second Women's match is the RAW Women's Champion Alexa Bliss taking on the Smackdown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair. Alexa pulls Charlotte off the apron to the floor to get the advantage. Alexa keeps her down by hitting moves such as the insult to injury and a sunset bomb but Charlotte hits a sit down powerbomb to start her comeback. Alexa comes close with a DDT but Charlotte manages to get the win after hitting a big boot followed by getting Alexa to submit to the Figure 8. Even though it went longer than I thought I would, this was a really good match.
Winner: Charlotte Flair (3 for 6)

Our penultimate match is the Universal Champion Brock Lesnar facing the WWE Champion AJ Styles. Lesnar goes at Styles at a fast pace, going to hit a variety of suplexes during the match. Lesnar misses a knee strike, giving Styles to fight back, coming close after a 450 splash and a Phenomenal Forearm. When Styles goes for another forearm, Lesnar catches him in mid air and hits the F5 to get the win. This match was really good and it was quite possibly Lesnar's best match in years. It just goes to show how good Styles is right now and makes me wish that he was in WWE a few years earlier.
Winner: Brock Lesnar (4 for 7)

The main event is another Survivor Series Elimination Match with the team of Kurt Angle, Triple H, Samoa Joe, Finn Balor and Braun Strowman from RAW taking on the team of Shane McMahon, Bobby Roode, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura and John Cena from Smackdown. Strowman eliminates Nakamura then Roode with running powerslam to give his team a 2 man advantage. Cena eliminates Joe with an AA but he gets eliminated after 2 Olympic Slams by Angle. Orton then eliminates Balor with a RKO. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens come down and attack Shane, who fights back with a chair. In the chaos, Orton gets eliminated after another running powerslam by Strowman, leaving Shane to take on Angle, Triple H and Strowman. Angle puts Shane in the anklelock but Triple H stops it and Pedigrees Angle. He then puts Shane over him and Angle gets eliminated. Triple H checks on Shane while Strowman, me and the vast majority of the crowd is wondering what the fuck is going on and then suddenly, Triple H Pedigrees Shane and Team RAW get the win. Afterwards, Strowman beats up Triple H.

This match for most of it was pretty good and we got to see cool matchups such as Triple H fighting Roode and Balor fighting Nakamura. Then the ending just went off the fucking rails. It involved 3 part timers, one of them isn't technically a wrestler. Then Triple H doing what he did confused me and made no sense at the time plus did Triple H really needed to get the winning pinfall? I assume it was to build an Angle/HHH match and cement Strowman's face turn. However, I suspect that there was a better way to do that. Anyway, well done to RAW for winning the event 4 matches to 3, if you give more of a fuck about that than I do.
Winners: Triple H and Braun Strowman (5 for 8)

Up until the main event, I was enjoying Survivor Series with some really good matches. Unfortunately, the main event really spoiled it for me. Whilst it's nowehere near the level of what Hulk Hogan has done, some of the creative involving Triple H over the years has made no sense and at times, been total bullshit. I feel that the ending of the show is an example of that. WWE had a chance to big up a wrestler. Instead, we got unnecessary nostalgia and a nonsenscial ending with Strowman's face turn seemingly an afterthought. Hopefully, Clash of Champions will not have any of this although I'm not holding my breath.

WWE Survivor Series 2017 Preview

WWE Survivor Series 2017, which has now become a mash up of Bragging Rights and Clash of the Champions, will be taking place this evening at the Toyota Center in Houston? We will get to see some dream matches plus who is the better brand, RAW or Smackdown? Or, are you like me and don't really care about that? Anyway, let's take a look at the card.

Kailsto vs Enzo Amore
WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match
The match on the Kick Off Show could be a good one. Whilst I have mixed feelings on Enzo, he has been interesting as Champion so I'll think he'll win here.
Predicted Winner: Enzo Amore

Hollywood Miz vs Baron Corbin
Whilst this is a heel vs heel match, I feel that it could work here. Miz is a joy to watch right now so he'll probably act a little like a face and go on to get the win here.

Charlotte Flair vs Alexa Bliss 
I do feel sorry for Natalya but I feel that this match would be a better contest. This is quite a tough one to call but I think that Alexa will find a way to win here.

The Shield vs The New Day
This is one that has the possibility to be the match of the night. Whilst I enjoy The New Day, I think that The Shield will be victorious here.

Cesaro and Sheamus vs The Usos
This is another one that has the possibility to be the match of the night. I'm going for The Usos to win here.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Whilst some of the talent involved are good, I feel that they have some rapid eliminations. Anyway, I'm going for Team Smackdown to find a way here.

AJ Styles vs Brock Lesnar
Like Natalya, I feel sorry for Jinder Mahal but if you had a choice between Mahal vs Lesnar or Styles vs Lesnar, what the fuck would you rather have? Anyway, whilst Styles will be awesome as always, I feel that Lesnar will get the win here.
Predicted Winner: Brock :Lesnar

Team RAW (Kurt Angle, Triple H, Bruan Strowman, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe) vs Team Smackdown (Shane McMahon, Randy Orton, Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura, John Cena)
I can see this match being a long one but hopefully it will be fun as well. I feel that Team RAW will win with maybe a little help from Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.

WWE Survivor Series 2016 Review

The 30th Survivor Series took place at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. We've got 3 RAW vs Smackdown elimination matches plus 2 matches that could change the landscape of the WWE. So. let's take a look and see what happens.

There were two matches on the Kick Off Show and the first was the team of TJ Perkins, Noam Dar and Rich Swann taking on the team of Ariya Daivari, Drew Gulak and Tony Nese. Perkins, Dar and Swann wear down Gulak and later on, Daivari hits an AA spine buster to give his team the advantage. Dar eventually manages to tag in Swann and he goes on to hit a standing 450 splash on Daivari to give his team the win. An enjoyable match to start the night.
Winners: TJ Perkins, Noam Dar and Rich Swann (1 for 1)

The second match was Kane taking on Luke Harper. Kane gets the win after avoiding a discus clothesline to hit a chokeslam. To be honest, the match wasn't great.
Winner: Kane (2 for 2)

The first match of the PPV was the Womens' elimination match. It's the team of Alicia Foxx, Bayley, Charlotte, Nia Jax and Sasha Banks from RAW took on the team of Alexa Bliss, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Naomi and Nikki Bella from Smackdown. Well, it was supposed to be Nikki but she was attacked backstage and unable to take part. Therefore, coach Natalya replaced her. After a little while, Alicia eliminates Carmella with a scissor kick to the back of the head but she is immeidately eliminated by Bliss with a twisted bliss. Nia Jax destroys Naomi and she gets eliminated by count out and Sasha Banks gets eliminated thanks to a roll up by Natalya. She then gets eliminated thanks to a big boot by Charlotte. In a big surprise, Nia Jax submits to the disarm-her applied by Becky then Bliss gets eliminated by another big boot by Charlotte. In the end, Bayley hits the Belly-to-Bayley on Becky to get her team the win. Charlotte celebrates by beating the fuck out of Bayley.

The match was pretty good but I am concerned about Nia Jax. Since she has been called up to RAW, she has destroyed random jobbers and Alicia Foxx yet she gets eliminated by submission. If they want to keep her as a monster, I thought it would make more sense to her to be counted out. The main difference between the divisions is that you can put the women in the title picture (except maybe Naomi) and it wouldn't look weird. RAW probably has the better talent yet are focusing their title picture on just Charlotte and Sasha Banks and I feel that that could harm the division in the long run.
Winners: Bayley and Charlotte (2 for 3)

The Intercontinental Championship is on the line as Sami Zayn challenges Hollywood Miz and if Sami wins, the Championship goes over to RAW. Miz takes advantage of Maryse getting in Zayn's face to chop block him and he continues to focus on the right knee. Zayn gets back into it with a brutal clothesline and it looks like he's going to win it when he puts Miz in the figure 4 when the bell suddenly rings. It turns out that Maryse rang it while the referee is telling Zayn that he hasn't won, Miz rolls him up to get the win. This was a good match and I liked the ending with Maryse. If I have a slight nitpick, I would have preferred it if Miz hit his finisher instead of a roll up.
Winner: The Miz (3 for 4)

Next is the Tag Team Survivor Series Elimination Match. The teams of Enzo and Big Cass, The Shining Stars, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, Sheamus and Cesaro and The New day from RAW take on the teams of American Alpha, Rhyno and Heath Slater, Breezango, The Usos and The Hype Bros from Smackdown. Breezango get eliminated almost immediately when The New Day hit the midnight hour on Fandango; then Kofi gets hit with a superkick by Jey Uso to eliminate The New Day. The Hype Bros get eliminated Gallows and Anderson hit Zack Ryder with the magic killer; the shining stars get eliminated when Primo gets hit with an diving avalanche bulldog by American Alpha; and they get eliminated when Jason Jordan gets hit with another magic killer by Gallows and Anderson. Rhyno then gores Gallows to even the sides. Enzo and Big Cass eliminate Rhyno with the boom shakalaka to make it The Usos against Enzo, Big Cass, Cesaro and Sheamus. Enzo gets hit with a superkick followed by an Uso splash to eliminate his team; and in the end, Cesaro gets Jey Uso to submit to the sharpshooter to get team RAW the win. Except for the eliminations at the beginning, I enjoyed the match.
Winners: Cesaro and Sheamus (4 for 5)

Next is Kalisto challenging Brian Kendrick for the Cruiserweight Championship. If Kalisto wins, the entire Cruiserweight Division will go over to Smackdown. Kalisto goes at 100 miles an hour before Kendrick hits a spinning heel kick followed by a belly-to-back suplex to get the advantage. Kendrick goes on to use the steel steps against Kalisto in front of the ref which doesn't get him disqualified for some reason. Anyway, Kalisto hits an awesome Spanish fly from the ring apron to get back into it. He goes on to hit the salida del sol but Kendrick gets his foot on the ropes. The match ends when Baron Corbin runs in, blindsides Kendrick and hits Kalisto with the end of days. Due to the fact that Kendrick was attacked first, he wins by disqualification. This match was good but I didn't see the point of the extra stipulation. The one with the Intercontinental Championship made sense because it was Ziggler's idea; although it was a shame that he lost it the week before. I just don't think you can't have two matches that could have far reaching consequences then decide to keep the status quo. Hopefully 205 Live will give some development to the Cruiserweights.
Winner: Brian Kendrick (5 for 6)

The penultimate match was the final Survivor Series elimination match. It was the team of Kevin Owens, The Gift of Jericho, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Bruan Strowman from Team RAW against AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton and Shane McMahon with mascot James Ellsworth from Smackdown. It's a while before we get our 1st elimination. Ambrose and Styles let their feud boil over and they start fighting each other. Strowman takes advantage and eliminates Ambrose with a running powerslam. Strowman gets elbowed through the announce table by Shane then gets eliminated by count out when Ellsworth stops him from getting back into the ring. Strowman responds by throwing a fleeing Ellsworth off the ramp through a table, Owens gets eliminated by disqualification when he hits Styles with the List of Jericho. When Jericho picks up the pages that were strewn over the ring, Orton comes in and eliminates him with a RKO. Shane gets murdered when he attempts a coast to coast and he gets speared by Reigns. Shane then gets sent to the back by doctors. Later on, Ambrose runs back in and attacks Styles. Security try to stop him but Rollins and Reigns stop them and they combine to powerbomb Styles through the Spanish announce table. Rollins then rolls Styles in and pins him, making it Rollins and Reigns versus Orton and Wyatt.

Luke Harper returns to help out and Rollins gets eliminated by a super RKO by Orton. In the end, Reigns goes to spear Wyatt but Orton pushes him out of the way and takes the hit. Wyatt then hits Sister Abigail to get the win. I was quite surprised that Orton and Wyatt were the survivors but despite that, I really enjoyed the match.
Winners: Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton (6 for 7)

The main event is Goldberg in his first match in 12 years taking on Brock Lesnar. Goldberg hits 2 spears follwed by a jackhammer to win the match in 85 seconds. I'm torn about this. Goldberg has never really done long matches and I'm ok with him winning. However, Lesnar ended Undertaker's streak, destroyed John Cena and has been generally destroyed as a monster over the last 2 1/2 years. For him to lose to a guy who hasn't wrestled in over 12 years in less than 90 seconds does show that perhaps that it's the beginning of the end for Lesnar.
Winner: Goldberg (6 for 8)

I thought that Survivor Series was a bit of a mixed bag. I generally enjoyed the matches. However, you had 2 matches with game changing stipulations which didn't happen and a 85 second main event and it lowered my opinion of it. Recent WWE PPVs have been good in terms of wrestling quality. However, some of their creative decisions have disappointed me. Hopefully their last 2 PPVs of the year will improve on that.

WWE Survivor Series 2016 Preview

WWE Survivor Series 2015 Review

WWE Survivor Series 2015 took place on Sunday 22nd November at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. We will be seeing a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion after the show. So who will it be? Let's take a look.

The match during the Kick Off was a Survivor Series match. It was the team of Hollywood Miz, Bo Dallas, Stardust and The Ascension taking on the team of Neville, The Dudley Boyz,Titus O'Neill and  Goldust. The first elimination was when Viktor was eliminated by Goldust with a powerslam. Konnor gets eliminated by Bubba Ray with a spine buster. Neville then gets eliminated by The Miz thanks to a skull crushing finale but he gates immediately eliminated when he gets rolled up by Goldust. Stardust becomes the omly person left on his team when Titus eliminated Bo with the Clash of the Titus. In the end, Stardust walks into a 3D to give the opposition the win. The event starts with the first semi-final of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament with Roman Reigns taking on United States Champion Alberto Del Rio. In an entertaining match, Del Rio thought he won it with a cross armbreaker but it was in vain as Reigns hit the spear to get the win. I really enjoyed the match and a good way to start the show.
Winner: Roman Reigns
Predictions: 1 for 1

The second semi-final was one that I was really looking to: Dean Ambrose taking on Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens. In the end, Owens goes for the pop-up powerbomb but Ambrose gets out of it and hits the Dirty Deeds to get the win. This match was throughly enjoyable and it sets up an interesting final between Reigns and Ambrose.
Winner: Dean Ambrose
Predictions: 2 for 2

We now get the second Survivor Series elimination match. It's the team of Ryback, The Lucha Dragons and The Usos against the team of The New Day (sucks!), King Barrett and Sheamus. The first elimination took place when Sin Cara 2.0 pinned Barrett after a swanton bomb. Jimmy Uso was eliminated thanks to a double stomp off the top ropes by Woods then Sheamus eliminates Sin Cara 2.0 with a brogue kick. The teams are down to 3 each when Big E is eliminated thanks to Jey Uso. Woods and Kofi take Big E to the back, leaving Sheamus by himself. In the end, Ryback hit Sheamus with the Shell Shock to get his team the win. I thought it was a good match and The New Day continue to show why they are probably the best thing to watch in the WWE right now.

The Divas Championship is on the line as Paige challenges Charlotte. Charlotte manages to apply the figure 4 early on but is forced to let go when Paige gets out of the ring. The match changes momentum a few times until Charlotte spears Paige off the barricade. Charlotte gets her back into the ring and applies the figure 8 to get the win. It was a good match but some of Charlotte's actions during the match was questionable as she's supposed to be the good guy in this feud.
Winner: Charlotte

Next we get Tyler Breeze taking on  Dolph Ziggler. In quite a short match, Breeze kicks Ziggler in the knee, giving him the chance to hit the Unprettier to get the win. It was a good match and I look forward to see how Breeze does on the main roster. You know, before creative find some way to fuck it up.

The penultimate match was between the team of The Undertaker and Kane and two members of the Wyatt Family, Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper.  Wyatt and Harper get the advantage after Braun Stroman sent Kane flying over the announce table. Undertaker gets the hot tag after Kane hit a running DDT on Wyatt. They proceed to chokeslam both Wyatt and Harper followed by Stroman through the Spanish announce table. In the end, Undertaker hits the tombstone piledriver on Harper to get the win. It was a decent match. However, I feel that Wyatt should have taken the loss. Plus, I still don't get why Stroman wasn't in the match.
Winners: Kane and The Undertaker

The main event was the final of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament with Dean Ambrose taking on Roman Reigns. They go all out for this match, going at an fast pace. Ambrose almost wins it with the dirty deeds but in the end, Ambrose gets hit with the spear after he goes for an avalanche splash and Reigns wins. I thought, although it was quite short, was very enjoyable. I was expecting an Ambrose heel turn and become Champion. However, I'm glad that they didn't.
Winner: Roman Reigns

After some confetti and fireworks, Triple H comes out to congratulate Reigns. Reigns responds by spearing him. Suddenly, Sheamus comes in, brogue kicks Reigns and cashes in his Money in the Bank briefcase. Sheamus immediately covers Reigns but he kicks out. Sheamus then hits another brogue kick to get the win. I was quite surprised that the WWE  went down this road. I assume that they want to do the same route as they did with Daniel Bryan. However, Reigns is not that kind of wrestler. I wonder if it would be better if they go down the Goldberg route.
Winner: Sheamus

I thought that Survivor Series was a good show. I did question some of the creative decisions behind the matches but they were generally good. We now have to see how they handle Sheamus and Reigns.

WWE Survivor Series 2015 Preview

 

WWE Survivor Series 2015 will take place this evening at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The WWE celebrating 25 years of the Undertaker and we get to see who will be the new WWE Worold Heavyweight Champion. Let's look at the card.

Tyler Breeze will make his PPV debut against Dolph Ziggler. This has the potential to be a good match and I feel that Breeze will win here.

Predicted Winner: Tyler Breeze

The Divas Championship will be on the line as Paige challenges Charlotte. Yeta again, the potential to be a good match between the two. I would love for Paige but I believe that Charlotte will retain here.

Predicted Winner: Charlotte

 Two from The Wyatt Family will face The Undertaker and Kane. It's a shame that this isn't a Survivor Series match but I digress. Anyway, it has to be a victory for Undertaker and Kane here.

A lot of people fully expect one of them to turn heel during this match. I might be going against the grain here but I'm going for Ambrose to win here. However, don't be surprised if Sheamus makes an appearance to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase afterwards.

I'm finally caught up with my PPV reviews and I plan to publish the review for this during the week plus a report on watching the Smackdown taping in Manchester earlier this month. Until then, I hope you guys enjoy the show.

WWE Survivor Series 2014 Preview

The 28th Survivor Series will be taking plave this evening at the Scottrade Center in St Louis. Once again, Brock Lesnar is not here so will the vent cope without him? Let's look at the card.

Dean Ambrose will take on Bray Wyatt in what could be a interesting match. It's a tough one to call but I think that Bray will win here.
Predicted Winner: Bray Wyatt

 Nikki Bella will get another chance to challenge AJ Lee for the Divas Championship. I've enjoyed AJ's reign but I don't really want Nikki to be Champion. However, I feel that they may use the Championship as someone for the Bellas to fight over. Therefore, I'm going for Nikki to win here.
Predicted Winner: Nikki Bella

The Tag Team Championship will be on the line in a fatal-4-way elimination match. Gold and Stardust will face the challenge of The Usos, The Miz and Damien Mizdow, and Los Matadores. This should be a good entertaining match and I think that Gold and Stardust will find some way to win here.

 The Divas will have their own Survivor Series match as Alicia Fox, Emma, Naomi and Natalya take on Paige, Cameron, Layla and Summer Rae. Hopefully it won't be as bad as last year's match and I'm going for Paige's team to be victorious.

In the main event, Team Authority (Seth Rollins, Corporate Kane, Mark Henry, Rusev and Luke Harper) will face Team Cena (John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Big Show, Ryback and Luke Harper(??)) in a Survivor Series match. If the Authority win, everyone but Cena will be fired; if Cena wins, the Authority are out of power. This is a really tough one to call. I fully expect Cena to face 3 of them himself then proceed to beat them all with no problem. However, I don't feel that the Authority's reign is ready to end just yet. I'm going for Team Cena here, although I won't be surprised if he gets screwed and he loses.
