NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff Preview

The second NXT UK TakeOver will be taking tomorrow evening at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales. The card looks pretty good so let's take a look.

This should be a good match and I'm going for Dar to win.

This is a tough one to call. I would love Kay Lee Ray to get the win but I think that Toni will get the victory.

Grizzled Young Veterans vs Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster vs Mark Coffey and Wolfgang
Triple Threat Match for the NXT UK Tag Team Championship
This has a small chance of stealing the show and whilst I love the Grizzled Young Veterans, the division does need a jolt. For that to happen, we might need to have new Champions. With that in mind, I'm going for Andrews and Webster to win.

WALTER vs Tyler Bate
United Kingdom Championship
I'm really looking forward to this match. WALTER has the rest of Imperium as back up and Bate has Tyler Seven so I can see them being involved at some point. I'm going for WALTER to get the win.

WWE SummerSlam 2019 Review

The biggest party of the summer (apparently) SummerSlam took place the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Sunday 11th August. There are some matches that look pretty good so let's take a look.

The first match on the Kick Off Show is for the Cruiserweight Championship as Oney Lorcan challenges Drew Gulak. Gulak doesn't fuck around and gets the advantage early on. gulak goes on to use submission holds and chinlocks to keep Lorcan down. Lorcan hits a blockbuster but Gulak goes on to apply the Gu-Lock, which Lorcan gets out of it by grabbing the bottom rope. They both try to hit their finishers but Gulak takes advantage of the referee dealing with the ring apron to punch Lorcan in the throat then hit a Cyclone Crash to get the win. Whilst not as high flying as we are used to with the cruiserweights, I thought it was an enjoyable match.
Winner: Drew Gulak (1 for 1)

Next is Apollo Crews taking on Buddy Murphy. Murphy hits a running knee as soon as the bell rings and goes on to keep the advantage. After they collide in mid air, Crews recovers and makes a comeback. The fight goes to the outside and when Murphy rolls Crews back in, Rowan appears and beats the fuck out of Murphy, meaning that he wins(?) by disqualification. The match was pretty decent between the two and hopefully Murphy, who I've become a big fan of while he was on 205 Live, will get some more TV matches.
Winner: Buddy Murphy (2 for 2)

After a segment involving Elias and the return of the Rated R Superstar Edge, we get our Kick Off main event: The IIonics challenging Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross for the Women's Tag Team Championship. After a fast paced start, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce team up to take out Cross and then wear her down. Eventually, Cross manages to tag in Bliss but The IIonics almost get the win after Bliss gets creamed by a big boot from Kay. In the end, Bliss goes on to hit Twisted Bliss on Royce to get the win. This was a good match but it felt that it was too short.
Winners: Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross (3 for 3)

The first match of the show is for the RAW Women's Championship as Natalya challenges "The Man" Becky Lynch in a submission match. Early on, Lynch hits a couple of suplexes and applies an armbar transitioning into a triangle choke. Natalya then swings Lynch into the crowd barrier to get the momentum then focuses on the left knee. After applying a sharpshooter through the ropes, Lynch injures Natalya's arm and the match starts to go back and forth. After both women apply their opponent's finishers on each other, Natalya manages to apply the sharpshooter. Lynch manages to slide half way out of the ring, forcing Natalya to try to reapply the move. Lynch takes advantage of this apply the Dis Arm-Her and eventually get the win by submission. Whilst I was surprised that it opened the show, I thought it was a really good match.
Winner: Becky Lynch (4 for 4)

The next match is Dolph Ziggler taking on Goldberg.  Ziggler hits 2 super kicks but when he goes for a third, he gets killed with a spear. Goldberg then follows that with a Jackhammer to get the win. Whilst I feel sorry for Ziggler, at least the match was short and he didn't get hurt.
Winner: Goldberg (5 for 5)

We now get Ricochet challenging AJ Styles for the United States Championship. Ricochet starts at a fast pace before Styles slows him down and focuses his attack on the left leg. Ricochet manages to start a comeback but the injured knee hampers his offence and Styles takes advantage to apply a calf crusher. When Ricochet has a chance to go for the 630 splash, Karl Gallows and Karl Anderson distract him long enough for Styles to recover. In the end, Styles catches Ricochet coming off the top turnbuckle and hits a Styles Clash to get the win. Afterwards, The OC celebrate by Gallows and Anderson hitting Ricochet with a Magic Killer. I enjoyed this match and I liked the ending.
Winner: AJ Styles (5 for 6)

Next is Ember Moon challenging Bayley  for the Smackdown Women's Championship.  Ember hits a somersault into a forearm followed by a springboard cross body to get the advantage. The match goes back and forth and when Ember goes up to do the Eclipse, Bayley stops her and hits a Belly-to-Bayley off the top rope to get the win. Whilst I'm slightly gutted that Ember lost, but I enjoyed the match.
Winner: Bayley (5 for 7)

We now get Kevin Owens taking on "The Best in the World" Shane McMahon.  McMahon goes some help by getting Elias in as a special guest enforcer. When the bell rings, McMahon keeps on sliding out of the ring, frustrating Owens. Elias provides a distraction, giving McMahon the chance to throw Owens off the apron into the crowd barrier. McMahon then keeps Owens down with punches and knee strikes. Owens hits a pop up powerbomb but Elias distracts the referee. McMahon accidentally hits Elias, giving Owens the chance to hit a Swanton Bomb followed by a Frog splash but Elias pulls out the referee to stop the pin. Owens hits a cannonball into Elias and the referee then goes on to beat the fuck out of Elias with a steel chair. When the referee recovers and puts the steel chair away, Owens takes advantage and hits McMahon with a low blow then a stunner to get the win. The match was pretty decent between the two. I would like to think that Shane would have learnt something but he has carried on on Smackdown as if nothing happened, so I guess not.
Winner: Kevin Owens (6 for 8)

Next is a match that I was quite looking forward to seeing: Charlotte Flair taking on WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. Charlotte goes for the Figure 8 but Trish gets out of it. Charlotte then sends Trish head first into the steel steps to get the advantage. Charlotte gets cocky, taunting Trish. Trish manages to apply the Figure 8 but Charlotte gets to the ropes. Even though Trish comes close after hitting the Stratusfaction, Charlotte hits a big boot then gets Trish to submit to the Figure 8 to get the win. This was a really good match and I really enjoyed it.
Winner: Trish Stratus (6 for 9)

Next is Randy Orton challenging Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship. Orton sends Kingston flying off the top turnbuckle to the crowd barrier then suplexes him off the German announce table. Kingston hits a DDT off the top rope and he starts to make a comeback. Orton hits a hanging DDT then hits a RKO while Kingston was in mid air but Kingston is able to roll out of the ring. Orton follows him and while they were fighting on the outside, they are both counted out. After the bell rings, Kingston beats the fuck out of Orton with a kendo stick then hits him with a Trouble in Paradise. The match was pretty good although I was not happy with it ending in a double count out.
Winner: Double Count Out (6 for 10)

The penultimate match is Finn Balor taking on "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt.  Wyatt is dominant for most of the match hitting moves such as a spine buster. Balor does mount a comeback and goes for the Coup de Grace but Wyatt avoids it and applies a mandible claw. Wyatt covers Balor while he is applying the hold and he gets the win. Afterwards, Wyatt disappears. This was a glorified squash match but it was pretty good. As for Wyatt's new gimmick, I love it, especially the entrance. Hopefully, WWE won't find a way to fuck this up.
Winner: Bray Wyatt (7 for 11)

The main event is for the Universal Championship as Seth Rollins challenge Brock Lesnar. Lensar is dominant at the beginning, focusing on the injured ribs. Rollins avoids a German suplex and hits a Blackout for 2. When Rollins goes for a second, Lesnar hits the F-5 but takes too long to make the cover. Lesnar goes on to hit a ton of German suplexes. The match goes to the outside and Rollins splashes Lesnar through the Spanish announce table. In the end, Lesnar goes for another F-5 but Rollisn lands on his feet and hits a super kick followed by a third Blackout to get the win. I thought the match was really good between the two and I thought that Lesanr will be Champion for longer.
Winner: Seth Rollins (7 for 12)

I thought that SummerSlam was quite good. Some of the matches were enjoyable and we got a couple of nice surprises. Hopefully, we can get WWE going in more of a positive direction.

NXT Takeover: Toronto II Review

NXT Takeover: Toronto II took part last Saturday at the Scotiabank Arena. The card looks awesome so, let's take a look.

The first match is for the NXT Tag Team Championship as The Undisputed Era challenge The Street Profits. The match goes back and forth before Bobby Fish hits a running elbow on Angelo Dawkins to get his team the advantage. Eventually, Dawkins is able to tag in Montez Ford but later on, he gets put into a brutal achilles lock by O'Reilly. In the end, Dawkins spears both O'Reilly and Fish and Ford hits O'Reilly with a beautiful frog splash to get the win.  This was a really good match and a lot of fun.
Winners: Street Profits (1 for 1)

The next match is Io Shirai taking on Candice LeRae. LeRae doesn't fuck around and attacks Shirai before the bell rings. When the bell rings, Shirai almost hits a sunset flip powerbomb to the floor but she pulls LeRae off the apron then suplexes her onto the announce table to get the advantage. LeRae avoids a missile dropkick and this gives her the opportunity to make a comeback. Despite hitting a beautiful tornado DDT to the outside, Shirari manages to recover and hits an Asai Moonsault but LeRae kicks out. Shirai then makes LeRae pass out by applying a modified Koji Clutch to get the win. This was a good match between the two and I sense that it isn't over yet.
Winner: Io Shirai (2 for 2)

After an impromptu fight between Matt Riddle and Killian Dian, we now get a match that I was really looking forward to seeing: Velveteen Dream defending his North American Championship against Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong in a triple threat match. Highlights inlcude: Dream and Dunne teaming up to take out Strong; Strong hitting his opponents with backbreakers; Dream putting Strong in a Sharpshooter, which was stopped by a double stomp by Dunne on Strong; and Dream hitting Dunne with an elbow drop while he was attacking Strong's fingers. Dune hits Strong with The Bitter End but Dream distracts the referee then stops him from finishing the 3 count. Strong hits The End of Heartache on Dunne but Dream breaks up the pin with a Purple Rainmaker then pins Dunne to get the win. Thsi was a brilliant match and I was surprised that Dream won. However, I'm happy with the decision and Strong has plenty of time to get the Championship.
Winner: Velveteen Dream (2 for 3)

The penutimate match is for the NXT Women's Championship as Mia Yim challenges Shayna Baszler. Baszler tries to put holds on Yim but Yim responds by attacking the face. After Yim injures the shoulder, Baszler kicks the back of the head to get the advantage then goes onto injure the left arm. Yim uses some more underhanded tactics to help make a comeback. Baszler's injury hamoers her and Yim takes advantage to hit an avalanche code blue for 2 then further injures the shoulder with a stomp. Baszler tries to apply the Krirfuda Clutch but Yim takes advantage of the injured shoulder to prevent it being fully locked in. Baszler then applies a triangle choke using the legs to get Yim to submit and Baszler gets the win. This was a good match and I liked the psychology that they used with Yim using underhanded tactics to stop Baszler and throw her off her game.
Winner: Shayna Baszler (3 for 4)

The main event is a 2-out-of-3 falls match for the NXT Championship as Johnny Gargano challenges Adam Cole (Bay Bay!). The 1st fall was a normal wrestling match. Cole injures his right knee which hampers his offence. Later on, he decides to grab a steel chair and when the referee  puts it to the side, he hits a Nakamura Approved Low Blow but it only gets 2. Gargano then grabs the chair and beats the fuck out of Cole to lose the 1st fall by disqualification.

The 2nd fall is a street fight and Gargano presses home his advantage, taking the fight through the crowd and sending Cole through the announce table. Despite Cole getting a few moves in, Gargano sends him into a steel chair in the corner then gets him to submit to the Garag-No Escape to tie the match.

The third fall is a steel cage match with barbed wire on the top and weapons on the side. They go on to use kendo sticks, steel chairs, a fire extinguisher and a ladder against each other. Gargano comes very close to winning with a Canadian Destroyer off the top rope. He then uses some pilers to cut off some of the barbed wire at the top of the cage. Cole flees to the table perched on one corner of the cage and when Gargano goes after him, they go flying through 2 tables set up earlier. Cole manages to drape an arm across Gargano to get the pin and the match.

I thought this match was really good. However, I feel that it might have gone on a little bit too long. Hopefully, Gargano will go on to the main roster and Cole can continue his Bay Bay Celebration Tour.
Winner: Adam Cole (4 for 5)

I really enjoyed Takeover: Toronto as it had some really good matches. I was worried about the 3 hour run time but it didn't feel like it dragged and that's always a good sign.

WWE SummerSlam 2019 Preview

WWE SummerSlam 2019 will be taking place this evening at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Some of the card looks good but I'm slightly worried about a couple of them so, let's take a look.

Apollo Crews vs Buddy Murphy
I think that Buddy will win this one.

NXT Takeover: Toronto II Preview

NXT Takeover: Toronto II will be taking place this evening from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Some of the matches on the card looks amazing so, let's take a look.

Street Profits vs The Undisputed Era
NXT Tag Team Championship
This is a tough one to call. The Street Profits have been featured backstage on RAW so that could mean a future call up. However, I feel that they will hold on to those titles for a little bit longer.

Io Shirai vs Candice LeRae
I'm quite looking forward to this one. I like LeRae but she needs to get fucked up by Shirai to cement her heel turn.

Shayba Baszler vs Mia Yim
NXT Women's Championship
Yim has taken out Baszler's lackeys, Marina Sharfir and Jessamyn Duke, to help the match be more of an even contest. However, I still think that Baszler will be victorious.

Velveteen Dream vs Roderick Strong vs Pete Dunne
Triple Threat Match for the NXT North American Championship
I am really looking forward to this one. I can see anyone of them winning. However, I think that Strong will find a way to win.

Adam Cole (Bay Bay!) vs Johnny Gargano
2-out-of-3 Falls Match for the NXT Championship
The last two matches between them have been awesome so I expect the same here. William Regal will choose the stipulation for the third fall if needed (spoiler alert: it will) so I'm interested in what that will be. I'm going for Cole to retain.

WWE Extreme Rules 2019 Review

WWE Extreme Rules 2019 took place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. There are some decent matches on the card so let's take a look.

There were 2 matches on the Kick Off Show and the first one was Shinsuke Nakamura challenging Finn Balor  for the Intercontinental Championship. The match starts at a fast pace going back and forth. Nakamura tries to apply an armbar then keeps Balor with a facelock. Balor hits a few dropkicks followed by an elbow to the back of the neck for 2. Balor goes for the Coup de Grace but misses and Nakamura hits a Kinshasa to get the win and become the new Intercontinental Champion. This was a good match although I would have loved for it to be given a bit more time.
Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura (0 for 1)

The second match on the Kick Off Show was Tony Nese challenging Drew Gulak for the Cruiserweight Championship. Gulak immediately hits Nese with a dropkick but Nese quickly gets back into it. Nese goes for the Running Nese but Gulak stops it with an elbow. Despite Nese hitting a 450 splash, it was not enough as Gulak hits a powerbomb followed by the Cyclone Crash to get the win. It was short but it was a good match.
Winner: Drew Gulak (1 for 2)

We start Extreme Rules with "The Best in the World" Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre taking on Roman Reigns and The Undertaker. After Shane helps McIntyre send Reigns to the outside, Undertaker goes after Shane with a chair. McIntyre and Shane go on to wear down Reigns. Reigns avoids a shoulder charge in the corner by McIntyre, giving him the chance to tag in Undertaker. Undertaker goes on to try to powerbomb Shane through the announce table but Elias comes in and hits Undertaker with a guitar. When Reigns attacks Elias, he gets hit with a Claymore by McIntyre. After McIntyre hits Undertaker with another Claymore, Shane elbow drops him through the announce table then a Coast to Coast. Undertaker recovers and hits Shane then Elias with chokeslams. Reigns spears McIntyre then Undertaker hits Shane with a Tombstone Piledriver to get the win. This match was better than I thought it would be. My only issue is that, even though Shane took the pin, he will still be booked like he was a God.
Winners: The Undertaker and Roman Reigns (2 for 3)

The next match is for the RAW Tag Team Championship as The Usos challenge The Revival. The match goes to the outside and Scott Dawson clotheslines Jey Uso then, with the help of Dash Wilder, send him into the crowd barrier. Jey eventually manages to tag in his brother Jimmy. After a couple of near falls, The Revival hit Jimmy with Shatter Machine to get the win. This was a good match between the two teams.
Winners: The Revival (2 for 4)

Next is Aleister Black taking on Cesaro. Black goes for Black Mask immediately but Cesaro avoids it. When Black gets out of Cesaro's Neutraliser, Cesaro responds by doing Black's sit down taunt. The match goes back and forth with Cesaro hitting a beautiful springboard diving uppercut. Black focuses his attack on Cesaro's left knee with kicks and a knee bar. Black goes on to hit the Black Mask to get the win. I enjoyed this match as it gave both guys the chance to show their technical ability and that made Black look good.
Winner: Aleister Black (3 for 5)

We now get Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss challenging Bayley  for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship. Nikki and Alexa use the numbers game to their advantage after Alexa pushes Bayley off the apron onto the steel steps. After a few minutes, Bayley manages to recover and takes out Nikki with a suicide dive then maanges to get both of them in a submission move at the same time. Nikki and Alexa try to do aerial moves but Bayley stops them and goes on to hit Nikki with a Macho Man elbow drop to get the win. I thought this match was a fun one to watch although I was surprised that Alexa didn't turn on Nikki afterwards.
Winner: Bayley (4 for 6)

Next is a Last Man Standing match between Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman.  Lashley attacks Strowman when he gets to the end to the ring, which turns out to be a bad idea as Strowman throws him all over the place. During the match they go into the crowd then Lashley crashes Strowman through the crowd barrier followed by pinning him under the German announce table. Later on, Strowman sends Lashley flying into the Japanese announcers and they fight among the international announcers based near the ring. In the end, Strowman powerslams Lashley off a ledge through a conveniently placed box. The referee, even though he can't see them, starts counting and Strowman suddenly crashes through the side. The referee goes on to count Lashley out, making Strowman the winner. I was not looking forward to this one but I really enjoyed it. The wrestling was basic but it had a lot of pretty cool spots.
Winner: Braun Strowman (4 for 7)

We now get our second Tag Team Championship match as "The New" Daniel Bryan and Rowan take on The New Day and Heavy Machinery  in a triple threat match for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship. Bryan and Rowan get to focus their attack on Xavier Woods while keeping Heavy Machinery out of the match. With Big E out, Xavier tags in Otis and Heavy Machinery get a couple of near falls. Heavy Machinery hit the Compacter on Big E but Woods breaks up the pin. Later on, Bryan applies the LeBell Lock on Big E but he manages to get under the ropes. In the end, Big E catches Bryan in midair and he and Woods then hit the Midnight Hour to get the win. This was a really good match and I really liked the ending.
Winners: The New Day (4 for 8)

After we get a Paul Heyman promo, our next match is AJ Styles challenging Ricochet for the United States Championship. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson attack Ricochet before the bell rings, giving Styles an early advantage in the match. Ricochet briefly recovers before a distraction by Gallows gives styles the chance to get back the momentum. Ricochet hits a few high flying moves to start his comeback and also hits a crossbody to Gallows and Anderson on the outside. In the end, Ricochet deals with interference from Anderson but Gallows hits him while he was on the top turnbuckle. Styles takes advantage and hits a Styles Clash from the top rope to get the win. I thought this was a really fun match to watch.
Winner: AJ Styles (4 for 9)

The next match is Kevin Owens taking on Dolph Ziggler. Owens doesn't fuck around and hits a Stunner almost immediately to get the win. Er..well, that was pointless.
Winner: Kevin Owens (5 for 10)

The penultimate match is for the WWE Championship as Samoa Joe challenges Kofi Kingston. Kofi hits a dropkick but Joe immediately responds with a clothesline and gets the advantage. Joe goes to attck Kofi's right hand and comes close to winning a couple of times. Kofi then hits Trouble in Paradise out of nowhere to get the win. Whilst the ending seemed like it came out of nowhere, I thought it was a good match.
Winner: Kofi Kingston (6 for 11)

The main event is Seth Rollins and "The Man" Becky Lynch taking on Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans in a Extreme Rules Tag Team Match for the RAW Women's and Universal Championships. Highlights include: Rollins and Lynch using kendo sticks; Corbin hitting Rollins with a DDT onto a chair; Lynch hitting Evans with a Bex-ploder onto a chair; and a double chokeslam by Evans and Corbin. Corbin hits the End of Days on Lynch and Rollins goes apeshit and beats the fuck out of him with a kendo stick and a chair. He then goes on to hit 3 Curb Stomps to get the win. The match was pretty...

Oh, wait a minute. Brock Lesnar comes out and hits 2 German suplexes on Rollins. He then cashes in his Money in the Bank briefcase and hits a F5 to get the win. Er..yay?

In terms of the main event, I thought it was pretty decent. However, it seemed weird that you would have a Extreme Rules match yet you were limited on who can pin who. As for Corbin attacking Lynch, I was ok with it. However, the fact that it led to the ending does look like a case of fridging to me.

As for the cash in, it seemed that WWE want to go back to having a part time Universal Champion. I didn't want Brock to be successful. However, the last two cash-ins have been complete cluster fucks so I feel that we needed a successful men's cash in.

I thought that most of Extreme Rules was pretty good. However, I felt that the main event could have been better and I'm not happy that we are going back to a part time Champion. Summerslam is next and I'm interested to see what they will do there.

WWE Extreme Rules 2019 Preview

WWE Extreme Rules 2019 will be taking place this evening at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. There are twelve matches on the card so let's take a look.

Finn Balor vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Intercontinental Championship

This should be a good match and I'm going for Balor to retain.

This is a match that I'm quite looking forward to seeing. I think that Gulak will retain.

WWE Stomping Grounds 2019 Review

WWE Stomping Grounds took place on Sunday 23rd June at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington. Some of the matches look decent so let's take a look.

The match on the Kick Off Show was a triple threat match for the Cruiserweight Championship as Tony Nese defends his title against Akira Tozowa and Drew Gulak. Highlights of the match include: Tozowa hitting a suicide dive on Nese followed by a cannonball on Gulak; Gulak suplexing Tozowa onto Nese; and Gulak putting Nese in the Gu-Lock, which is stopped by Tozowa hitting a Senton. Nese hits the Running Nese on Gulak but Tozowa tries to pin him with a schoolboy. Tozowa knocks Nese from the apron and Gulak hits a Torture Rack Neckbreaker on Tozowa to get the win. Triple threat matches withthe Cruiserweights are generally good and this one did not disappoint. I'm a little surprised that Gulak won only because I thought he would be Champion round about Summerslam. However, it is thoroughly deserved and I can't wait to see how Gulak does as Champion.

The first match on the show is for the RAW Women's Championship as Lacey Evans challenges "The Man" Becky Lynch. Becky mocks Lacey and is absolutely dominant in the beginning. However, Becky hurts her midsection and Lacey takes advantage after hitting a reverse DDT. Becky gets back into it and applies an armbar. Both ladies try to win it but Becky gets Lacey to submit to the Dis Arm-Her to get the win. This was quite a good match although I thought that Lacey was a little sloppy.
Winner: Becky Lynch (1 for 2)

Next is The New Day taking on the team of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Owens takes out Big E on the apron then him and Zayn proceed to beat the fuck out of Xavier Woods. Woods manages to survive their assault but Owens and Zayn keep on preventing him from tagging in Big E. Eventually, Woods does tag in Big E, who destroys Zayn. Zayn and Owens come close when they hit a Helluva Kick followed by a Pop Up Powerbomb on Woods. In the end, after Big E spears Zayn off the apron, Owens hits a Stunner on Woods to get the win. This was a good match and I enjoyed the story that they told with Owens and Zayn taking out Big E at the beginning and focusing their assault on Woods.
Winners: Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens (2 for 3)

We now get a match that I was quite looking forward to seeing: Ricochet challenging Samoa Joe for the United States Championship. After mocking Ricochet, Joe sends him into the side of the ring to get the advantage. Ricochet hits 2 step up enziguris, giving him the chance to get back some momentum. Joe manages to apply the Coquina Clutch but Ricochet gets out of it by going through the ropes. He then goes on to hit a code breaker followed by the 630 Splash to get the win. This was a fun match to watch and I'm happy that Ricochet got the win.
Winner: Ricochet (3 for 4)

Next up is the Smackdown Tag Team Championship match as Heavy Machinery challenges "The New" Daniel Bryan and Rowan. Otis and Tucker use their strength to keep Bryan down. Bryan manages to tag in Rowan and he mows down Tucker with a running crossbody. Later on, Rowan hits his shoulder on the ring post and this gives Tucker the chance to tag in Otis. He goes on to hit the Caterpillar on Bryan. However, in the end, after Tucker takes out Rowan, Bryan puts him in a small package to get the win. This was a fun, back and forth match between the teams, which was a pleasant surprise. We all know how awesome Bryan is but I wasn't sure how this would go. After this, I was impressed with Heavy Machinery and hopefully, they will get another opportunity.
Winners: Daniel Bryan and Rowan (4 for 5)

We now get our second Women's Championship match as Alexa Bliss challenges Bayley for the Smackdown Women's Championship, even though Alexa is from RAW (go figure). Anyway, Alexa bounces Bayley's head off the turnbuckle to get the advantage. Alexa slaps Bayley in the face and she doesn't take well and clotheslines Alexa. Bayley starts her comeback and after she hits a sunset flip bucklebomb, Bayley hits Nikki Cross with a suicide dive when she was checking on Alexa. Alexa takes advantage of it and tries to hit Twisted Bliss. However, Bayley get the knees up then hits Belly-to-Bayley to get the win. The match was pretty good although I feel that it could have been better.
Winner: Bayley (5 for 6)

Next up is Roman Reigns taking on Drew McIntyre. McIntyre goes after Reigns as he is coming the aisle and the bell rings when they take the fight into the ring. After Reigns hits McIntyre with a suicide dive, he chases after "The Best in the World" Shane McMahon. However, McIntyre intercepts him and goes on to press his advantage with some help from Shane. McIntyre applies a triangle hold but Reigns gets out of it and hits a Samoan drop to start his comeback. Shane tries to interfere but he gets hit with 2 Superman punches. Later on, Reigns hits a Spear but Shane pulls the referee out of the ring. Shane then hits the Coast to Coast but Reigns kicks out. Reigns then goes on to hit another Spear to get the win. The match was pretty good and hopefully, he can move away from this feud with Shane. However, based on what happened at RAW the following night, I guess that isn't happening.
Winner: Roman Reigns (6 for 7)

The penultimate match is a Steel Cage Match for the WWE Championship as Dolph Ziggler challenges Kofi Kingston.  Both guys both try to escape the cage early on before Ziggler gets the momentum. They spend most of the match throwing each other into the cage along with a few slaps. Kofi comes close after hitting a springboard crossbody and they end up fighting on top of the cage, falling to the ring after a headbutt. Kofi inadvertently gets the win after Ziggler almost superkicks him out of the door. In the end, Ziggler is on the verge of crawling out of the door but Kofi dives over him to the floor to get the win. Whilst I enjoyed the ending, I felt that it was a slow paced match, which surprised me. I feel that they could have had a better match.
Winner: Kofi Kingston (7 for 8)

The main event is Baron Corbin challenging Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship with a referee chosen by Corbin himself. That turned out to be Lacey Evans. As expected, Lacey lets Corbin get away with murder while doing a slow count whenever Rollins does a cover. Rollins powerbombs Corbin through the announce table and Lacey does start counting him out but then decides to make it a no countout match. After Corbin beats the fuck out of Rollins with a chair, Lacey again changes the rules to make it no disqualification. Rollins hits a falcon arrow but Lacey refuses to make a count. When Rollins confronts her, she slaps him then low blows him. This is enough to make Becky Lynch come out and attack Lacey. The referees come out to stop it and John Cone comes in to referee. When Corbin tries to hit the End of Days, Rollins gets out of it and hits the Curb Stomp to get the win.

I have mixed feelings about this match. Corbin getting Lacey Evans to be the referee, who has a grudge against Rollins' girlfriend Becky Lynch, is a quite clever choice. There were some decent moments but it wasn't as good as it could have been.
Winner: Seth Rollins (8 for 9)

I thought that most of Stomping Grounds was pretty good. Most of the matches were quite good and the Cruiserweight Championship was the best match of the night by a considerable distance. However, I feel that some matches, especially the main event, could have been better.

WWE Super ShowDown 2019 Review

WWE's 3rd propaganda trip to Saudi Arabia, Super ShowDown, took place on Friday 7th June at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Some of the card looks quite decent in an event that WWE are saying will be the equivalent of Wrestlemania (fuck's sake..). Anyway,  let's get through this.

The match on the Kick Off Show was between The Usos and The Revival. The Usos completely dominate Wilder and Dawson before they do a blind tag to help them take down Jimmy Uso. After a few minutes, Jimmy hits Wilder with a enziguri and he gets to tag in Jey Uso. In the end, The Usos hit a double superkick to Wilder to get the win. The match was ok but I thought it was a bit short.
Winner: The Usos (1 for 1)

The first match on the show is for the Universal Championship as Baron Corbin challenges Seth Rollins. Corbin focuses his attack on Rollins' ribs, that Lesnar fucked up on the previous RAW.  Rollins hits a couple of suicide dives to get back the advantage. During the match, Corbin keeps intimidating the referee John Cone. Eventually the referee starts shouting back at him. This gives Rollins the chance to roll up Corbin to get the win. Corbin doesn't take the loss well and hits Rollins with an End of Days. Then Lesnar, who decided not to cash in after fucking up Rollins a few days ago, comes down to attempt to cash in. Unfortunately, Rollins hits him with a low blow and then proceeds to beat him up with a steel chair and then hit him with a Curb Stomp. The match was pretty decent.
Winner: Seth Rollins (2 for 2)

The next match is for the Intercontinental Championship as Andrade challenges Demon Balor. Andrade goes for the Hammerlock DDT early on but Balor stops it. Andrade gets the momentum after hitting a missile dropkick followed by 3 suplexes. Balor hits a dropkick of his own to start a comeback. Andrade goes on to hit the Hammerlock DDT but it only gets 2. In the end, Balor manages to hit the Coup de Grace to get the win. I thought that the match was quite good.
Winner: Finn Balor (2 for 3)

Next is Roman Reigns  taking on "The Best in the World" Shane McMahon along with Drew McIntyre. McMahon goes after Reigns as soon as the bell rings and McIntyre helps out with a few cheap shots at every opportunity. McMahon goes to grind down Reigns with a chokehold and later on, applies a triangle choke. Reigns manages to deal with McIntyre trying to interfere then hits a Superman punch, sending McMahon flying off the top rope and that gets 2. Shane accidentally knocks into the referee, giving McIntyre the chance to take out Reigns with a Claymore Kick. Shane then pins Reigns and gets the win. Fuck's sake. The match was ok but I feel sorry for Reigns. I'm glad that he wasn't thrust into the WWE Championship picture when he moved to Smackdown but I would rather have that than have him lose to a guy who isn't trained to be a wrestler and looks exhausted seconds into a match.
Winner: Shane McMahon (3 for 4)

The next match is Lars Sullivan  taking on The Lucha House Party.  Sullivan is dominant throughout the match. When Sullivan goes to the top rope, Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik get him off and gang up on him. That, somehow, is enough for the referee to disqualify them ending the match. After the bell rings, they continue their assault then try to leave. However, Sullivan quickly recovers and beats them up on the entrance ramp. This match was shit and completely pointless plus the ending was nonsensical.
Winner: Lars Sullivan (3 for 5)

We now get the revival of a rivalry as Triple H takes on Randy Orton for the first time in singles competition since Wrestlemania XXV. Early on, both guys try to hit their finishers. Orton accdientally hurts his arm, hitting it against the ring post. This gives the opportunity for Triple H to focus on it. However, Orton suplexes Triple H onto the announce table to get the advantage. Later in the match, Triple H hits a spine buster then applies a crossface, forcing Orton to get to the ropes. Triple H goes for the Pedigree but Orton powers out of it and hits a RKO for 2. Triple H eventually manages to hit the Pedigree but it only gets 2. After slamming Orton numerous times onto the announce table, Triple H rolls him back into the ring. However, when he follows him, Orton hits a RKO to get the win. I thought the match was pretty good but it felt that was too long.
Winner: Randy Orton (3 for 6)

Next is Bobby Lashley taking on Braun Strowman. Both guys show their strength and Lashley hits a powerslam for 2. The match goes back and forth and it goes to the outside When they go back into the ring, Lashley goes to the top rope but Strowman throws him off then hits a running powerslam to get the win. The match was ok, nothing special.
Winner: Braun Strowman (4 for 7)

We now get the WWE Championship as Dolph Ziggler challenges Kofi Kingston. Kofi misses an avalanche splash and Ziggler hits a dropkick to get the momentum. Kofi powers out of a chinlock and sends Ziggler into the turnbuckle to start a comeback. After some pinning attempts, Kofi hits a SOS for 2. The match goes to the outside and Ziggler hits Xavier Woods with a super kick when he goes to check on Kofi. When the match goes back into the ring, Woods retaliates with a kick when the referee wasn't looking. Kofi then hits Trouble in Paradise to get the win. Afterwards, Ziggler challenges Kofi to a steel cage match. I thought the match was actually quite good between the two.
Winner: Kofi Kingston (5 for 8)

The penultimate match is a 50-Man Battle Royal. Takng part were: Akam, Akira Tozawa, Ali, Apollo Crews, The Brian Kendrick, Buddy Murphy, Cedric Alexander, Cesaro, Chad Gable, Curt Hawkins, Curtis Axel, Dash Wilder, Drew Gulak, EC3, Eric Young, Erik, Heath Slater, Humberto Carrillo, Ivar, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Jinder Mahal, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Mansoor, Matt Hardy, Mike Kanellis, Mojo Rawley, No Way Jose, Oney Lorcan, Otis, Rezar, Ricochet, Robert Roode, Rowan, Rusev, Samir Singh, Samoa Joe, Scott Dawson, Shelton Benjamin, Shinsuke Nakamura, Sin Cara Version 2, Sunil Singh, Hollywood Miz, Titus O'Neil, Tony Nese, Tucker, Xavier Woods and Zack Ryder.  A lot of people are eliminated early on such as the Singhs and Eric Young. Titus O'Neil eliminates both of the Viking Raiders but he gets eliminated by Shelton Benjamin. The final 6 end up being: Ali, Cesaro, Elias, Mansoor, Ricochet and Samoa Joe. Ali and Ricochet team up to eliminate Joe but Cesaro eliminates them almost immediately. Mansoor eliminates Cesaro then Elias to get the win...? Er, what? Nothing against Mansoor but he's only just started being on NXT TV and he seems pretty good. I suppose he got booked to win as he's from Saudi Arabia. As for the match, it was a mess to begin with as it was hard to see what was happening. As it went on, it became a decent match.

The main event is Goldberg taking on The Undertaker for the first time. Goldberg spears Undertaker twice but it only gets a 2 count. When Goldberg goes for a spear in the corner, he misses and busts his head open hitting the ring post. Undertaker takes adavantage and he goes on to hit a poorly executed chokeslam followed by a Tombstone Piledriver, in which Goldberg lands on his head, but Goldberg kicks out. Goldberg tries to hit the Jackahmmer but it's botched and Undertaker lands on his head. In the end, Undertaker hits another poorly executed chokeslam to get the win. Well, that match didn't go well. There were moves that looked poorly executed and moves that threatened the safety of the wrestlers. These are wrestlers in their 50s who rarely wrestle and hopefully this will be the last time they face each other.
Winner: Undertaker (6 for 9)

Super ShowDown wasn't great. There were a couple of good matches but they were some that weren't great and the main event was a disaster. I don't think wrestling in temperatures of about 37 degrees Celsius helped. WWE need to stop pandering to nostalgia and keep faith with their current Superstars then hopefully, with some better writing, the show will improve.
