WWE TLC 2015 Preview

TLC 2015 official poster.jpg

The final PPV of the year, TLC (no Stairs this year) takes place this evening at the TD Garden in Boston. How will the year end in the WWE? Let's look at the card.

On the Pre-Show, we will have Becky Lynch  facing Sasha Banks. I saw these two wrestle at the Smackdown/Main Event taping in Manchester last month and it was really good. So, I'm hoping for the same here. I think that Becky will win here.
Predicted Winner: Becky Lynch

Rusev will face Ryback in a match that could be ok. I'm going for Rusev to win here.
Predicted Winner: Ryback

The New Day (sucks!) will defend their Tag Team Championships in a triple threat ladder match against The Usos and The Lucha Dragons. This should be an entertaining match and I can any of those teams winning. I'm going for The Usos to win here.
Predicted Winners: The Usos

Jack Swagger will challenge Alberto Del Rio in a chairs match for the United States Championship. Whilst I can see Swagger winning, I don't think he actually will. So, Del Rio to win here.
Predicted Winner: Alberto Del Rio

The Wyatt Family will face the team of the ECW Originals (The Dudley Boyz, Tommy Dreamer and Rhyno) This could be a fun match and I'm going for the ECW Originals to win here.
Predicted Winners: ECW Originals

Paige will get another chance to challenge Charlotte for the Divas Championship. This could be a good match and  I think that Charlotte will win here.
Predicted Winner: Charlotte

Dean Ambrose will challenge Kevin Owens for the Intercontinental Championship. This should be another good match and I feel that Owens will retain here.
Predicted Winner: Kevin Owens

The main event will see Roman Reigns challenge Sheamus for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. I don't if the match will be any good and it should hopefully be entertaining. I'm going for Sheamus to win here.
Predicted Winner: Sheamus

I'm planning to have the Survivor Series and TLC reports up by Christmas. Until then, I hope you guys enjoy the show.

WWE Survivor Series 2015 Preview

The official poster of survivor series 2015.jpeg

WWE Survivor Series 2015 will take place this evening at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The WWE celebrating 25 years of the Undertaker and we get to see who will be the new WWE Worold Heavyweight Champion. Let's look at the card.

Tyler Breeze will make his PPV debut against Dolph Ziggler. This has the potential to be a good match and I feel that Breeze will win here.
Predicted Winner: Tyler Breeze

The Divas Championship will be on the line as Paige challenges Charlotte. Yeta again, the potential to be a good match between the two. I would love for Paige but I believe that Charlotte will retain here.
Predicted Winner: Charlotte

Two from The Wyatt Family will face The Undertaker and Kane. It's a shame that this isn't a Survivor Series match but I digress. Anyway, it has to be a victory for Undertaker and Kane here.
Predicted Winners: Undertaker and Kane

We now come to the semi-finals of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament. The first one we're going to look at is Roman Reigns taking on United States Champion Alberto Del Rio. Yeah, I'll be an idiot if I didn't think that Reigns will win.
Predicted Winner: Roman Reigns

The second semi final is one that I'm looking forward to, which is Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens taking on Dean Ambrose. I would love for Owens to win here but it has to be Ambrose.
Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose

That means, if I got this right, that it will be Dean Ambrose versus Roman Reigns for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship. A lot of people fully expect one of them to turn heel during this match. I might be going against the grain here but I'm going for Ambrose to win here. However, don't be surprised if Sheamus makes an appearance to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase afterwards.
Predicted Winner: Dean Ambrose

I'm finally caught up with my PPV reviews and I plan to publish the review for this during the week plus a report on watching the Smackdown taping in Manchester earlier this month. Until then, I hope you guys enjoy the show.

WWE Hell in a Cell 2015 Review

WWE Hell in a Cell 2015 took place on Sunday 25th October 2015 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. With Undertaker facing Brock Lesnar and the US Title Open Challenge, this should be a good event. Let's take a look.

The Pre-Show match was the team of Cesaro, Neville and Dolph Ziggler taking on the team of King Barrett, Sheamus and Rusev. After over ten minutes, Cesaro hit Barrett with the big swing then tagged in Neville, who hit the red arrow to get the win. A enjoyable contest, considering the guys seemed to be just thrown together.
Winners: Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler and Neville
Predictions: 1 for 1

The Pay-Per-View starts with John Cena doing his open challenge for the United States Championship. We get Zeb Colter introducing Alberto Del Rio?!?!?! Wow, I was expecting a guy from NXT but this is great. Del Rio goes to win the match with a backstabber followed by a kick to the head...? This was a decent match but the ending really bothered me. Cena has spent his career kicking out of a fucking billion finishers and never submits; yet he loses to those two moves, which are not finishers. I get the problem with Del Rio using the cross armbreaker on Cena but he could have done something more believable to win the match.
Winner: Alberto Del Rio
Predictions: 1 for 2

Next we get the first Hell in a Cell match with Roman Reigns facing Bray Wyatt. Despite Bray's best efforts, Reigns gets the win after hitting Bray with a broken kendo sitck followed by a spear. This was a really good match although I'm still not quite convinced about Reigns being a main eventer.
Winner: Roman Reigns
Predictions: 2 for 3

The next match is for the Tag Team Championships as The New Day (sucks!) face the challenge of The Dudley Boyz. This time, they don't get disqualified but cheat throughout the match. In the end, Big E hit Bubba with the trombone. Devon clotheslines Big E out of the ring but Kofi hit Bubba with the trouble in paradise to get the win. Again, a decent match between the two teams.
Winners: The New Day
Predictions: 2 for 4

Next is the Divas Championship match as Nikki Bella challenges Charlotte.  Charlotte manages to apply the figure eight but Nikki got to the ropes. Charlotte, however, eventually applies it again to get the win. A good match between the two and I think that in order to develop the Divas division, we have to start weeding out people like the Bellas.
Winner: Charlotte
Predictions: 3 for 5

Next is the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match as Demon Kane challenges Seth Rollins. Kane put up a good fight after being powerbombed onto the Spanish announce table, then being hit with a frogsplash. Despite that, Seth hit Kane with a pedigree to get the win. This means that we won't get to see Corporate Kane anymore. This was a good match between the two and, even though beating Kane is not as big as it used to be, Seth needs wins like this. I would say, long may it continue but an incident in a house show in Dublin has massively fucked that idea up.
Winner: Seth Rollins
Predictions: 4 for 6

The Intercontinental Championship is on the line as Kevin Owens faces the challenge of Ryback. Owens gets the win after hitting the pop up powerbomb. A decent match but it was hard to follow the Rollins/Kane match.
Winner: Kevin Owens
Predictions: 5 for 7

The main event is a Hell in a Cell match between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker. Brock gets a cut to the head quite early on, which was surprising and I assume it was to emphasise the brutality of this match. Despite Lesnar hitting 3 suplexes and 2 F5s, he was struggling to put Taker away.  The ring boards get exposed and Taker chokeslammed Lesnar onto them followed by a tombstone piledriver. In the end, Lesnar hit a low blow then a F5 to get the win. Afterwards, the Wyatt Family attack Taker and carry him to the back in the shape of a cross.

This match was easily the best match of the three that they had. My only issue is that Taker's win at Summerslam was a very tainted one and it would have been nice to see him win clean. Having said that, Lesnar doing a low blow was a bit of a surprising move. I assume that they wanted to show the limits of what they were prepared to do.
Winner: Brock Lesnar
Predictions: 5 for 8

I thought that Hell in a Cell was a good event with some good matches. It would have been interesting to see where the WWE go from here. However, Seth Rollins serious knee injury at a house show in Dublin means that the focus will be the tournament to determine the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Hopefully, we get some good wrestling during it.

WWE Night of Champions 2015 Review

WWE Night of Champions 2015 took place on Sunday September 20th at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Due to the fact that I'm seriously behind on my reviews, I'm changing the format with it explaining how the match ended and my opinion of it. If you have any thoughts about this change, let me know. Now, let's take a look at the show

The Pre Show match was the team of Stardust and The Ascension taking on Neville and The Lucha Dragons. This was an entertaining match to watch and in the end, Viktor shoved down Neville after he hit the red arrow on Stardust. This gave Stardust the chance to recover and hit the cross rhodes to get his team the win.
Winners: Stardust and The Ascension
Predictions: 0 for 1

The first match of the show is for the Intercontinental Championship as Kevin Owens challenges Ryback. In an even contest, Owens raked Ryback's eyes to get out of the shell shock then rolled him up to become the new Intercontinental Champion. This was a good match and an entertaining way to start the show.
Winner: Kevin Owens
Predictions: 1 for 2

Next was Dolph Ziggler taking on Rusev. I felt sorry for them as the crowd were more interested in Lana than the wrestlers. In a weird ending, Summer Rae got ejected for yelling at the ref after a pin attempt for Rusev. In response, Summer threw her shoe at the ref but it hit Rusev instead. This gave Ziggler the chance to hit the Zig-Zag to get the win. I wasn't a fan of the ending as it makes Rusev look stupid but it was a decent match.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler
Predictions: 2 for 3

The Tag Team Championship match was next as The Dudley Boyz challenge The New Day (sucks!) The Dudleys looked like they were going to win it after hitting the 3D on Kofi but Xavier Woods broke the pin causing a disqualification. The Dudleys don't take this well and hit Woods with a 3D through the table. Another good match with The New Day being one of the most entertaining things in WWE right now.
Winners: The Dudley Boyz
Predictions: 2 for 4

We next got the Divas Championship as Charlotte challenges  Nikki Bella. Despite Nikki focusing his offense on Charlotte's left leg, Charlotte managed to power through and apply the figure eight to get the win. Afterwards, Paige, Becky Lynch and Ric Flair celebrate with her. I enjoyed this match and with the addition of Sasha Banks to the main roster, it looks like the Divas Division will have a bright future, if creative don't fuck it up.
Winner: Charlotte
Predictions: 3 for 5

Next we get The Wyatt Family taking on the team of Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and mystery partner Chris Jericho. Braun Stroman seemed to be the focus of the match and he got the win by applying Jericho in an elevated clutch. Afterwards, Jericho blew off Reigns and Ambrose. Quite a good match overall.
Winners: The Wyatt Family
Predictions: 3 for 6

The United States Championship was next as John Cena challenging Seth Rollins.  Unfortunately, even though I predicted him to win, John Cena got the win after hitting a top rope guillotine leg drop then an AA.  I really enjoy these matches between the two and this one was once again, a good match.
Winner: John Cena
Predictions: 4 for 7

It looks like it's about to be a lot worse for Rollins as Sting comes out to challenge him for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Luckily, Seth managed to counter the Scropion deathlock with a roll up to get the win. Afterwards, Sheamus tries to cash in his MITB but Demon Kane comes out and chokeslams him and then Rollins. This was a good match and well done to Rollins for giving us 2 good matches.
Winner: Seth Rollins
Predictions: 4 for 8

I thought that Night of Champions was quite enjoyable with some good matches. I was surprised that Rollins retained the WWE World Heavyweight Championship but I'm glad he did and long may his reign continue.

WWE Hell in a Cell 2015 Preview

 Hell in a Cell 2015 Poster.jpg

Hell in a Cell takes place this evening at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Will Undertaker finally get his revenge (cleanly) as he faces Brock Lesnar? Let's look at the card.

In the Pre Show, the team of Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro and Neville will face the team of King Barrett, Mr Money in the Bank Sheamus and Rusev. Whilst it's a bit of a shame that these guys are on the Pre Show, this should be a good match. I'm going for Ziggler, Cesaro and Neville to win here.
Predicted Winners: Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro and Neville

The New Day (sucks!) will face the challenge of The Dudley Boyz for the Tag Team Championships. Whilst I've generally enjoyed the reign of The New Day, I feel that the Dudleys will win here.
Predicted Winners: The Dudley Boyz

The Intercontinental Championship is on the line as Ryback challenges Kevin Owens. This could be a good match and Ryback could regain the Championship. However, I don't think that will happen; so Owens to win here.
Predicted Winner: Kevin Owens

Our first Hell in a Cell match will be between Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt. This could go either way and I fully expect the Wyatt Family will interfere despite the Cell. Despite that, I think that Reigns will win here.
Predicted Winner: Roman Reigns

United States Champion John Cena has decided to issue an open challenge. I don't know who it could be but I feel that Cena will still win here.
Predicted Winner: John Cena

Nikki Bella will get a chance to regain her Divas Championship as she challenges Charlotte. This could be a good match and I think that Charlotte will win here. However, I have a feeling that Paige could make an appearance.
Predicted Winner: Charlotte

Seth Rollins will face the challenge of Demon Kane for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. If Rollins wins, Corporate Kane will lose his job as Director of Operations. This is a tough one to call as I don't think that Rollins will lose his title or Kane will lose his job. I'm going for Rollins to win but I won't be surprised if it ends up as a no contest.
Predicted Winner: Seth Rollins

The second Hell in a Cell match is between Undertaker and Brock Lesnar. Hopefully this was not end up in a clusterfuck but I feel that Undertaker will get a clean win here.
Predicted Winner: Undertaker

I will get to watch this during the week and hopefully write up the review next week. I hope you guys enjoy the show.

WWE Summerslam 2015 Review

WWE Summerslam took place at the Barclays Center in New York on the 23rd August. It looks like it will be a great event, looking at the card. So, how will it fare? Let's take a look.

After the show starts with a segment involving Jon Stewart and Mick Foley, we get our first match, which is Randy Orton taking on Mr Money in the Bank Sheamus. Highlights of the match include: Orton hitting an exploder suplex and later on, a hanging DDT; and Orton hitting a RKO with Sheamus rolling out of the ring. In the end, Sheamus reverses an attempt at a punt to hit the white noise followed by a brogue kick to get the win. The middle of the match wasn't great. However, they had some unique sequences, which helped to engage a generally tough New York crowd. Overall, a good way to start the Pay-Per-View.
Winner: Sheamus
Predictions: 0 for 1

The next match is for the Tag Team Championships as The Prime Time Players face the challenges of    The New Day (sucks!), Lucha Dragons and Los Matadores in a fatal 4-way match. Like their match last month, Darren Young gets worn down by their opponents. Eventually, Young breaks free from Kofi and tags in Titus. Titus clears out everyone and hits the Clash of the Titus on one of the Matadores. However, Kofi had already tagged himself in by this point and he throws out Titus and pins the Matador to win the Championships for The New Day. I was quite surprised that The New Day won. However, thinking about it, it makes sense. The New Day are one of the best things on WWE TV at the minute and giving them the Championships would help to keep that momentum.
Winners: The New Day
Predictions: 0 for 2

Next was Dolph Ziggler (with Lana) facing Rusev (with Summer Rae). Quite early on, Rusev went fot the Accolade and Summer Rae tries to slap Lana. However, Lana slaps her, causing Rusev to release the hold to shout at Lana. The fight goes to the outside and Lana and Summer get into it. Ziggler then superkicks Rusev onto the announce table. Unfortunately, while all this was happening, the referee was counting and neither of them got back into the ring in time before the ref rang the bell for a double count out. The match was decent enough but I wasn't a fan of the finish. That means that the feud will continue (yay?)
Winner: None due to Double Count Out
Predictions: 0 for3

Next was King Barrett and Stardust taking on Neville and Stephen Amell. Amell surprised Stardust with some wrestling moves. However, Barrett tagged in and cut off Amell with a kick to the gut. Stardust and Barrett work on Amell in their corner before Amell manages to get in a kick to Stardust and tags in Neville. The action goes to the outside and Amell does a neat cross body to the heels. Neville then rolls in Barrett and hits the red arrow to get the win. I quite enjoyed this match. However, considering that Amell and Stardust were the focus of this feud, it felt weird that they weren't involved in the finish. I suppose this means that their feud will continue and I'm not if I want that to happen.
Winners: Neville and Stephen Amell
Predictions: 1 for 4

We now get the triple threat match with Ryback  facing the challenges of Hollywood Miz and The Big Show. At the beginning, Miz goes out of the ring forcing Ryback and Show to fight each other. Show runs down both guys before Ryback cuts that off with a chopblock. A couple of minutes later, Miz hits a skull crushing finale on Ryback after he hits Show with a shell shock. Miz tries to pin both guys numerous times before Show hits him with the KO punch. Ryback then clotheslines Show out of the ring and pins Miz to get the win. This was a good match until the end. The New Day did that to win their match earlier; and it is not something that Ryback (who is the face) should do to win as it's a heelish move.
Winner: Ryback
Predictions: 2 for 5

Next is a tag team match between Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt and Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. Harper and Wyatt take advantage after Reigns was smashed into the announce table to wear down Ambrose. Reigns eventually recovers to take the tag from Ambrose and he lands some offense before getting hit by a sit down powerbomb from Harper. Reigns goes on to hit Superman punches to both Wyatts before he and Ambrose hit a doomsday device on Harper and Wyatt breaks up the pin. Wyatt goes for Sister Abigail on Ambrose but he gets out of it and hits dirty deeds. Reigns then hits the spear to get the win. The match was pretty decent although it seems that the anti Reigns crowd is making a comeback.
Winners: Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns
Predictions: 3 for 6

Next is World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins taking on US Champion John Cena for both Championships. Highlights of the match include: Rollins hitting a running shooting star press; Cena hitting an AA early on; Rollins missing a phoenix splash and getting the STF put on him; and Cena applying a figure four and Rollins reversing it. The end comes when we get a ref bump and Jon Stewart runs down with a chair and hits Cena in the gut. Rollins then hits Cena with the Pedigree onto the chair to win the match and become the first wrestler since Goldberg in WCW to hold the US title and the World title. I really enjoyed this match and it's one of my favourite matches if the year. However, I wasn't really a fan of the end. I like Jon Stewart but I feel that him helping Rollins might not have made sense to much of the audience.
Winner: Seth Rollins
Predictions: 3 for 7

We now get a three team Divas elimination match involving the teams of Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Paige; Sasha Banks, Naomi and Tamina;  and Nikki Bella, Brie Bella and Alicia Fox. Early on, the Bellas do suicide dives to everyone and Tamina gets pinned in the middle of the ring, eliminating her team. The Bellas and Alicia start to work on Paige before she manages to tag in Charlotte. She later on tags in Becky who hits an urange on Brie to get the win. This wasn't a bad match. However, the main issue with The Divas Revolution is the character development or lack of.
Winners: Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Paige
Predictions: 4 for 8

The penultimate match is Kevin Owens facing Cesaro. Cesaro goes for the big swing early on, but Owens blocked in and sent Cesaro to the outside. Owens works on Cesaro, hitting moves such as
a cannonball splash into the barricade. Cesaro deso get back into it with moves such as a giant lift up slam. However, it goes pear shaped when Owens crotches Cesaro on the top turnbuckle then hits s top rope suplex driver. He followed that up with a pop-up powerbomb to get the win. This was a good win for Owens after losing his feud with John Cena then losing his his NXT title to Finn Balor the night before. Overall, a solid match.
Winner: Kevin Owens
Predictions: 4 for 9

The main event is the Revenge of the Taker (again and kind of) as Undertaker faces Brock Lesnar. Highlights of the match include: Lesnar hitting 4 German suplexes and getting busted open early on; Taker hitting a tombstone for 2; Lesnar applying the kimura then getting hit with the last ride; and Lesnar hitting 3 F-5s. In the end, Taker puts Lesnar in the Hell's gate but it's reversed into the kimura. Taker rolls to pin Lesnar and he kicks out and the bell rings. The referee Charles Robinson goes to the timekeeper and states that he didn't call for the bell. Meanwhile, Taker low blowed Lesnar and reapplies the Hell's gate. Lesnar eventually passes out giving Taker the win.

Up until the end, this was a really enjoyable match. However, the ending ruined it for me. We all expected Undertaker to win and get his revenge for Lesnar breaking the Streak. The ending makes it look like that Taker didn't deserve to win, especially as the replay shows Taker tapping out. Anyway, it looks like we will get Taker/Lesnar III in the foreseeable future.

I quite enjoyed Summerslam. However, I wasn't a fan of some of the endings. I get it creates debate and more matches but it flies in the face of even WWE logic, which is impressive and slightly disappointing.

WWE Night of Champions 2015 Preview

Night of Champions 2015.png

WWE Night of Champions 2015 takes place this evening at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. All the Championships are on the line plus we see the return of WCW icon, Sting. Let's look at the card.

In the Pre Show, Neville and The Lucha Dragons will face the team of Stardust and The Ascension. This should be a good match and I'm going for Neville and the Dragons to win here.
Predicted Winners: Neville and The Lucha Dragons

The Wyatt Family will take on Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and a mystery partner. It could be an interesting match but I'm going for Reigns, Ambrose and the mystery partner to win.
Predicted Winners: Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and a Mystery Partner

Dolph Ziggler once again takes on Rusev in a match that I will struggle to be interested in. I'm not really sure about this one but I'm taking a chance on Ziggler winning here.
Predicted Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Ryback will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Kevin Owens. This is a match that I'm really looking forward to see and I'm going for Owens to win his first major Championship here.
Predicted Winner: Kevin Owens

The Tag Team Championships will be defended as The Dudley Boyz challenge The New Day (sucks!) I'm torn on this one as I can see either team winning. However, I feel that the Dudleys winning would be a step back so I'm going for The New Day to win.
Predicted Winners: The New Day

Charlotte will challenge Nikki Bella for the Divas Championship. Whilst the Divas Revolution has been quite entertaining, it needs something major to happen for it to continue. Therefore, I'm going for Charlotte to win.
Predicted Winner: Charlotte

I feel sorry for my current favourite wrestler Seth Rollins as he will be pulling double duty. First, he will defend his United States Championship against John Cena. Yeah...Cena is not going to lose 2 PPV matches in a row. Cena to win here.
Predicted Winner: John Cena

Then, Rollins will defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Sting. Whilst I feel that Sting winning would be a step backwards, I feel that Rollins will end up without any Championships after this. Therefore, Sting to win here.
Predicted Winner: Sting

I hope to watch this within the week and publish my Summerslam review during that time as well. Until then, I hope you guys enjoy the show.

WWE Battleground 2015 Review

WWE Battleground took place on Sunday 19th July at the Scottrade Center in St Louis. Will Brock Lesnar get his revenge on Seth Rollins and reclaim the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? Let's take a look.

The first match was Randy Orton taking on the new Mr Money in the Bank Sheamus. Highlights of the match include: Sheamus constantly rolling out of the ring; Orton reversing a Brogue kick into  a powerslam; and Orton hitting a second rope DDT. The end comes when Sheamus hit a Brogue kick followed by a Texas cloverleaf. Orton eventually manages to get out of it and hit the RKO to get the win.  It was a strong opening match in front of a home crowd for Orton.
Winner: Randy Orton
Predictions: 1 for 1

The next match was for the Tag Team Championships as The Prime Time Players defend against The New Day (sucks!) Titus is dominant to start with before tagging in Young. Young loses control and gets a beating from The New Day. Young manages to hit an enziguiri on Big E and gets the hot tag to Titus. Big E goes for the big ending but Young avoids it and hits Kofi with the gut check. Titus then hits the spine buster on Big E to get the win. It was another good match and everyone had a chance to shine here.
Winners: The Prime Time Players
Predictions: 2 for 2

Next was Roman Reigns taking on Bray Wyatt. Highlights of the match include: Reigns countering a headlock into a belly-to-back suplex; Reigns hitting 2 pumphandle grip fallaway suplexes; Wyatt hittting an uranage; and Reigns getting out of a Sister Abigail and hitting a Superman punch. The end comes when Reigns stated tossing chairs into the ring and a hooded guy attacks him. Wyatt seizes the opportunity to hit an uranage followed by a Sister Abigail to get the win. Afterwards, the hooded man was revealed to be Luke Harper, reuniting with Wyatt. The match started quite slow but it got better towards the end. However, I wasn't really a fan of the finish and it seems that Reigns won't be near the title picture for the foreseeable future.
Winner: Bray Wyatt
Predictions: 3 for 3

The next match was Brie Bella (with Nikki Bella and Alicia Fox) taking on Charlotte (with Paige and Becky Lynch) taking on Sasha Banks (with Naomi and Tamina) in a triple threat match. Charlotte and Sasha clear out and face each other one on one but Brie later on hit a running bulldog on both of them. Later on, Sasha dropkicked Brie out of the ring onto the Divas aruging outside. Sasha then flew through the ropes onto them followed by Charlotte doing a plancha. Sasha applies the Bank Statement on Charlotte and it was broken up by Brie. However, Charlotte puts Brie into the figure-eight leglock to get the win. This match was quite enjoyable and I think that Charlotte and Sasha had strong main roster debuts.
Winner: Charlotte
Predictions: N/A

We now get the United States Championship as Kevin Owens challenges John Cena. Early on, Owens is dominant over Cena, hitting a torture rack into a neckbreaker for a nearfall. Other highlights include: Owens mocking the You Can't See Me; Cena applying the STF; Owens hitting a release German suplex followed by a cannonball splash; and Owens hitting the AA then applying the STF. Cena hit a super AA but Owens kicked out then later on, got an inside cradle for a 2 count. However, Cena manages to apply the STF and Owens tapped out, giving him the victory. This was another good match between the two and Owens looked really well not just in this match but over the last few months. The question is how will the WWE follow it up?
Winner: John Cena
Predictions: 4 for 4

The main event is Brock Lesnar attempting to regain his WWE World Heavyweight Championship back from Seth Rollins. As soon as the bell sounded, Lesnar charged Rollins and proceeded to hit him with 5 German suplexes. Rollins tries to leave but Lesnar cuts him off and hits another German suplex. Rollins manages to get back into it after blocking a F5 and knocking Lesnar out of the ring. However, it wasn't for long as Lesnar hit another 8 German suplexes. Lesnar hits the F5 then covers but the lights go out and a bell tolled. The lights came back on revealing the Undertaker. After a brawl, Taker hit a Tombstone (the referee had seemed to have disappeared during this point). Taker goes on to hit another Tombstone then makes his way to his way to the top of the stage with his music playing and blue fog filling the arena.

Up until the end, I was enjoying the match, I've become a big fan of Rollins over the last year and I was wondering how he would fare against Brock, who WWE have made into a version of the Terminator. However, I did not like the ending. I always wondered if Taker would try and get his revenge on Brock on ending the Streak. However, it begs the question of “Why now?” as it's been over a year since then and Taker had wrestled at Wrestlemania without any mention of what Brock did. If it was me, I would have Taker do it at the main event of Wrestlemania, which would given Rollins the opportunity to cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase. Anyway, it looks like we are going to have Taker-Lesnar II at Summerslam and I am looking forward to that match.
Winner: No Contest
Predictions: 4 for 5

I quite enjoyed Battleground. At the minute with work, I don't get to see the events until weeks after they finished. It's a shame as I would have liked to have seen this live. However, I did not like the way that this PPV ended as Taker's logic doesn't make sense. I could argue that it's WWE logic but even that is pushing it.

WWE Money in the Bank 2015 Review

WWE Money in the Bank 2015 took place on Sunday June 14th at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. This is one of my favourite events of the year and we get to see a potential WWE World Heavyweight Champion. So, who will it be? Let's take a look.

After a ten bell salute for Dusty Rhodes, who passed away that week; we get the Money in the Bank match. The competitors are Randy Orton, Neville, Corporate Kane, Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, Sheamus and Roman Reigns. Highlights of the match include: Sheamus hitting Ziggler with white noise; Reigns powerbombing Kofi onto a ladder then powerbombing Neville on top of him; and Orton pulling Neville off the ladder into a RKO. After Reigns does an over the top suicide dive to the wrestlers, Big E and Xavier Woods from The New Day (sucks!) run in and try to help Kofi win the match. Reigns takes out Big E and Woods then pulls Kofi off and powerbombs him onto everyone on the outside. Reigns then spears Orton and starts to climb up the ladder. Suddenly, Bray Wyatt appears, pulls Reigns off the ladder and hits him with the Sister Abigail. This gives Sheamus the chance to climb up the ladder and grab the briefcase to win the match.

I quite enjoyed this match and there were some good spots. I was convinced that, with the way the WWE have pushing him, Roman Reigns would win the match. I was surprised that Sheamus won instead. I'm not sure if Sheamus would become the World Heavyweight Champion or be the 3rd ever person to cash in and fail; but it will be interesting to see what they do with him.
Winner: Sheamus
Predictions: 0 for 1

Next is the Divas Championship match with Paige challenging Nikki Bella. Paige does a rolling senton to Nikki on the outside but Nikki responds by bouncing Paige off the barrier. Nikki keeps on the pressure with a chinlock and a springboard suplex. Paige gets back into it and hits the RamPaige for 2. When they knock each other out of the ring, Brie Bella comes from under the ring to do their Twin Magic bullshit. Paige then reverses a small package attempt to win the match. Or so she thought. Brie then tells them that he isn't Nikki. The referee, instead of disqualifying the Bellas, continues the match and Nikki slides in and hits the Rack Attack and win the match. Up until the end, it was a good match. I'm a big fan of Paige and the Bellas are continuing to show improvement. However, the end ruined it. It was nice to see Twin Magic backfire for once but everyone is saying that Nikki should have been disqualified. Also, Twin Magic is getting ridiculous. Not only does Nikki have breast implants but their hair is now different. The referees are obviously thick as shit in the WWE.
Winner: Nikki Bella

Predictions: 0 for 2

The next match is for the Intercontinental Championship as Big Show challenges Ryback, with Hollywood Miz on guest commentary. Almost immediately, Ryback stopped a charging Show with a spear followed by a meat hook clothesline. Show cut off Ryback and hit some power offense and slaps to the chest. Ryback ducked the KO punch to go for the Shell Scock but Show hit him and knocked him out of the ring.  When Show rolled Ryback into the ring, Miz attacked Show with the mic, causing a disqualification. Miz then attacked Ryback. This match was at a fast pace, which was surprising. I don’t quite get Miz’s motivations to attack them but I assume he has his reasons.
Winner: Big Show
Predictions: 0 for 3

Next is John Cena taking on Kevin Owens (again). Highlights of the match include: Owens reversing an AA into a release German suplex; Owens kicking out of the AA twice; Cena kicking out of the pop-up powerbomb; and Cena applying the STF followed by a modified Styles Clash. In the end, Cena manages to hit the AA for a third time to get the win. Afterwards, Owens responds to Cena’s offer of a handshake by shaking his hand then kicking him in the gut then powerbombing him onto the ring apron. I really enjoyed this match and it really sold Owens well. I’m slightly worried that he will go back to NXT and won’t get called up again for a while. However, I don’t think that will happen.
Winner: John Cena
Predictions: 1 for 4

The penultimate match is for the Tag Team Championships as The Prime Time Players challenge Xavier Woods and Big E from The New Day. Woods and Big E beat down on Young before O'Neill gets tagged in. A couple of minutes later, O'Neill hits Woods with a turnaround spinebuster to get the win, making The Prime Time Players the new Tag Team Champions. This has a very short match and I didn't think it would end with a spinebuster. Anyway, congratulations to the Prime Time Players.
Winners: The Prime Time Players
Predictions: 1 for 5

The main event is a ladder match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as Dean Ambrose challenges Seth Rollins. Highlights of the match include:  Ambrose hitting a butterfly overhead suplex into the ladder; Rollins applying a figure four around the ringpost; them brawling in the crowd; and Rollins powerbombing Ambrose into the barricade. The end comes when Rollins powerbombs Ambrose into a pile of chairs then buries him underneath them. Rollins climbs up the ladder but Ambrose gets out of the pile and goes after him. They both take the belt off the rung and fall off the ladder. Ambrose loses his grip on the belt as they hit the mat, making Rollins the winner. Afterwards, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley come out and celebrate with Rollins. This was a really good match and I really liked the ending.
Winner: Seth Rollins
Predictions: 2 for 6

I thought that Money in the Bank was a good PPV with some good matches. However, I was disappointed that the match that the event is named after was on first and I was surprised that Sheamus won. It looks like they see Sheamus as future Champion. However, I thought that when Sandow won in 2013 and looked what happened.

WWE SummerSlam 2015 Preview

WWE summerslam 2015 poster.jpeg
SummerSlam 2015 takes place this evening at the Staples Center in...wait. It's not in Los Angeles? Oh right, this year it's in the Barclays Center in New York. With Undertaker deciding to get his revenge against Brock Lesnar, does this have the potential to be the best PPV of the year? Let's look at the card.

The Prime Time Players will defend their Tag Team Championships against The Lucha Dragons, Los Matadores and The New Day(sucks) in a Fatal 4-way. This could be a good match and it's hard to see who could win it. I'm going for the status quo and think that the Prime Time Players will keep their titles.
Predicted Winners: The Prime Time Players

The Intercontinental Championship is on the line in a triple threat match as Hollywood Miz and The Big Show challenge Ryback. Ryback has been ok as Champion so far and I can't see him losing this so I'll think he'll retain.
Predicted Winner: Ryback

Kevin Owens will face Cesaro  in a match that I'm looking forward to seeing. Both men could win this but I'm going for Cesaro to win here.
Predicted Winner: Cesaro

The team of King Barrett and Stardust take on the team of Neville and Stephen Amell. This is an interesting one to watch. Neville and Amell will obviously win here but it's a big ask of Neville to carry him through this. Hopefully it will go well.
Predicted Winners: Neville and Stephen Amell

Team B.A.D., PCB and Team Bella will face each other in a three team elimination match. I've not seen very much of the Divas Revolution so far but I'm excited for this match. I can see WWE being assholes and letting Team Bella win. However, if they have any fucking sense, they won't. Personally, I think that PCB will win.
Predicted Winners: PCB

The team of Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper will face Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. This is another match that I'm looking forward to seeing. I think that Ambrose and Reigns will win.
Predicted Winners: Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns

Dolph Ziggler will face Rusev in what could be a good match. I'm going for Ziggler to win here.
Predicted Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Randy Orton will face Sheamus in a match that I couldn't give a fuck about. However, I have to predict a winner so fuck it, Orton to win.
Predicted Winner: Randy Orton

Undertaker will get his chance of revenge against Brock Lesnar. Hopefully this will be a better match than the one they had at Wrestlemania XXX. Anyway, unless WWE want to shock the world again, Lensar is not winning this.
Predicted Winner: Undertaker

Oh look, John Cena is challenging Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. I'm quite looking forward to it. I would love for Rollins to win here but I think it will be Cena wins and becomes Champion once again (yay)
Predicted Winner: John Cena

I know I'm massively behind on my PPV reviews. Work and other matters has meant I haven't seen Battleground yet. Hopefully, I will get up to date with my reviews in the next fortnight. Until then, have a good time watching the show,

Rowdy Roddy Piper (1954-2015)

Roddy Piper and Bret Hart interviewed pre match by Mean Gene

Roderick George Toombs, better known as Rowdy Roddy Piper, passed away on the 31st July. He was 61. Piper was trained by Gene LeBell, Leo Garibaldi, Tony Condello and Joe Fiorino and made his debut in 1969 against Larry Henning, the grandfather of Curtis Axel. After spending time in the NWA and Georgia Championship Wrestling, he joined the WWF in 1984. He is best known during this time for being in a rivalry with Hulk Hogan and main eventing the first ever Wrestlemania with Mr Wonderful Paul Orndorff as they faced Hulk Hogan and Mr T. He went on to win the Intercontinental Championship in 1992 and be the special guest referee for the main event of Wrestlemania X. Piper left the WWF for WCW in 1996 and was there for 4 years. He then made occasional appearances from 2003 to 2015 in the WWE, with him being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005.

My first memory of Piper is also one of my favourite ever matches. Piper was facing the challenge of Bret Hart for the Intercontinental Championship at Wrestlemania VIII and the match is absolutely amazing. There was also the added element of Piper being friends with the Hart family. I also liked the fact that Piper was from my home country of Scotland. I know that that's not true (Piper was born in Saskatoon, Canada) but by the time I found out, I didn't care.

Piper was also known as an actor with his most famous role being in They Live, where he spawned the catchphrase “I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubble gum”. Piper also appeared in various movies and TV shows such as Walker, Texas Ranger, The Outer Limits and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Piper's legacy is one of the best villains and talkers in professional wrestling history. His segment, Piper's Pit was innovate as it was in an atmosphere where only the people like the World Champion got to talk. Dave Meltzer described Piper as “one of the key figures in the growth of WWF. In particular, he helped power the success of the first Wrestlemania”. Piper is a wrestler that has been loved by many generations of wrestling fans and he will be sorely missed by everyone.

Piper leaves behind a wife, five children and a grandchild.
