WWE Survivor Series 2014 Review

WWE Survivor Series 2014 took place on Sunday 23rd November at the Scottrade Center in St Louis, Missouri. Will the power of the WWE be after the main event? Let's look at the event.

The first match in the Kick Off Show was between Justin Gabriel and a returning Fandango with new dance partner Rosa Mendes. In a very short match, Fandango gets the win after a top rope legdrop. The match was ok but it was very short.
Winner: Fandango
Predictions: N/A

The second match in the Kick Off Show was between Cesaro and Jack Swagger, which was weird because I thought the Authority had injured to make sure he wouldn't be in Team Cena tonight. Anyway, they start to exchange German suplexes and when Cesaro goes for the third one in a row, it's countered into an ankle lock and Swagger gets the submission win. Once again, an ok match but very short.
Winner: Jack Swagger
Predictions: N/A

The PPV officially starts with Vince McMahon coming out and calling out the Authority and John Cena. Vince is so confident that the Authority will win, that if they lose, the only person that can bring them back is John Cena. Ok, the stipulations to this match make no sense. Cena is the only one who is in a win-win situation. If he wins, only he can bring back the Authority; if he loses, he still keeps his job. Brandon Stroud has a theory that Cena is the big bad of the WWE. Based on this evidence, I'm inclined to agree with him.

The first match of the PPV is for the Tag Team Championships in a fatal 4-way match. The Usos, Hollywood Miz and Damien Mizdow and Los Matadores are challenging Gold and Stardust. Highlights of the match include Mizdow being awesome as usual, Mizdow getting tagged in only to get tagged out by Goldust, and continuous reversals by Fernando and Stardust resulting in a tornado DDT to Stardust. In the end, Jimmy Uso hits a splash to Goldust and Miz breaks up the pin. Mizdow then tags himself in and pins Goldust to get the win and he and Miz become the new Tag Team Champions. I really enjoyed the match and Mizdow stole the show yet again.
Winners: Hollywood Miz and Damien Mizdow
Predictions: 0 for 1

Next is the Divas Survivor Series match with Paige, Cameron, Summer Rae and Layla taking on Natalya, Naomi, Emma and Alicia Fox. The first elimination happens when Cameron hits a facebuster on Natalya and Naomi rolls up Cameron to eliminate her. A few minutes later, Alicia eliminates Layla with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Summer Rae gets fucked up by the opposition and gets eliminated by submitting to the Emma Lock by Emma. This now leaves Paige all by herself. Despite her best efforts, Paige gets hit by a head scissors into a facebuster by Naomi to give her team the win. It wasn't a bad match and it was a lot longer than last years. However, some of the moves look botched to me and I feel sorry for people like Paige, Natalya and Emma who don't really get much of a chance to showcase their talents. On a side note, I loved what Tyson Kidd is doing right now, tweeting selfies during the match and hogging the limelight from his wife, Natalya.
Winners: Natalya, Naomi, Emma and Alicia Fox
Predictions: 0 for 2

Next we get Bray Wyatt taking on Dean Ambrose. After some brawling, there was a nice spot where they're outside the ring and Wyatt rolls Ambrose into the ring. Ambrose rolls straight back out and clotheslines Wyatt. Ambrose does get worn down with Wyatt hitting moves such as a running senton. After a double clothesline on the outside, Ambrose makes his comeback and counters a Sister Abigail into a roll up for 2. After some back and forth which ends with Wyatt hitting a spinebuster onto the steps, Wyatt grabs the mic and asks Ambrose why they're fighting. He then throws in a steel chair but Ambrose grabs it. Despite the referee warning him, Ambrose attacks Wyatt with the steel chair and gets disqualified. He hits Dirty Deeds sending Wyatt's head onto the chair, elbows drops him through a table, then buries him under a mountain of tables and chairs. Whilst I was surprised a bit by the ending, I thought it was a really good match and I'm looking forward to their next match at the following PPV.
Winner: Bray Wyatt
Predictions: 1 for 3

The next is a bonus match between Slater Gator and Adam Rose and The Bunny. Titus and Heath proceed to destroy Rose but he manages to tag in The Bunny. Bunny beats up Heath and gets the win with a missile dropkick in a very short match. Afterwards, Rose looks dejected as The Bunny is carried off by The Rosebuds. This match didn't do anything for me and probably shouldn't have been on the PPV.
Winners: Adam Rose and The Bunny
Predictions: N/A

After we get an interview with Roman Reigns, we get the Divas Championship as Nikki Bella with Brie Bella challenges AJ Lee. The match starts with Brie going up onto the apron and kissing AJ. Nikki then forearms AJ then hits the Rack Attack to get the win and become the new Divas Championship. Afterwards, both the Bellas celebrate. Ok, what the actual fuck?! This has really pissed me off as this has the potential to be a decent match. Instead, we get a bullshit match and Brie deciding to forgive her sister for all the shit that has happened to her. Well, congratulations AJ and Brie, you have the honour of being the worst match that I have seen this year.
Winner: Nikki Bella
Predictions: 2 for 4

We now get the main event with Team Authority (Seth Rollins, Corporate Kane, Mark Henry, Luke Harper and Rusev) taking on Team Cena (John Cena, Ryback, Big Show, Erick Rowan and Dolph Ziggler). Big Show and Henry start the match and, after getting some encouragement from Triple H, Henry gets hit with the WMD and is immediately eliminated. Ryback beats up Rusev and a big boot from Kane ignites an all out brawl. Rollins takes advantage and hitting Ryback with a Curb Stomp followed by a super kick by Rusev to eliminate Ryback. Ziggler gets worked over by the Authority before Ziggler hits a DDT on Rusev. Rusev decides to send Ziggler through the Spanish announce table. However, Ziggler moves out of the way and Rusev crashes through it. The referee starts the ten count and Ziggler gets in on time. Despite the best efforts of Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury, Rusev could not make it in time and gets counted out, meaning the Authority are down to 3.

Cena gets tagged in and AA's Kane. However, Rollins slides in and hits a Curb Stomp. Rowan and Harper get tagged in and Rowan gets killed with a brutal clothesline to get eliminated, making it 3 to 3. Show goes in and hits the knockout punch on Cena. Rollins pins Cena, making it 2 left on Cena's team. Show leaves, getting himself counted out and it's now Ziggler facing Rollins, Harper and Kane. They proceed to fuck up Ziggler. However, Ziggler hits a Zig Zag on Kane and pins him, making it 2 to 1. Haper hits a super kick then sit down powerbomb for 2. Harper takes too much time and Ziggler suddenly rolls him up to get the pin, leaving it just between Rollins and Ziggler.

Rollins proceeds to fuck up Ziggler; but he gets hit with a brutal DDT for 2, getting the Authority worried. Ziggler hits the Zig Zag but the referee gets pulled out by Triple H and gets knocked out. Noble and Mercury beat up Ziggler but he deals with them and hits anoher Zig Zag on Rollins. Another referee slides in and starts the count but Triple H attacks him and knocks him out. Triple H beats up Ziggler then hits a Pedigree. After putting Rollins over Ziggler, he then gets his corrupt referee Scott Armstrong to come in and makes the count. However, Armstrong stops counting when the music of fucking Sting. Sting beats up Armstrong and after a stare off, hits Triple H with a kick then a Scorpion Death Drop. Sting then puts Ziggler on top of Rollins, the original referee convientently recovers and counts the 3, giving Ziggler the win. Afterwards, Cena comes out and celebrates with Ziggler at the entrance way and Stephanie, who got accidentally knkcked out earlier, gets upset in the ring with Triple H.

I really enjoyed the match and it's probably my favourite match of the year so far. I was very surprised that they let Ziggler the chance to do what everyone expected Cena to do; and that made it a refreshing change. The debut of Sting was awesome to see, although his music is pretty shit. It will be interesting to see what they do from here, especially with Ziggler. They can't give Ziggler that chance and put him in the same position he has been for the last year. Ziggler needs to given a big push as the crowd really supported him during the match and I would like to see him go for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at some point.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler
Predictions: 3 for 5

I thought Survivor Series was a good show. Even though it had a few pointless matches, I enjoyed the Wyatt/Ambrose match and the main event. All we need now is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion to turn up and we're sorted.
